The world is watching as Democrats undermine America from within
New York County District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s indictment of former President Donald Trump last week was a blow to America’s status as a democratic republic. Although Bragg alone brought the indictment, he would not have taken such a momentous step without the full backing of party leaders. So, it’s fair to say he acted on behalf of the Democratic Party, which has become increasingly emboldened after evading responsibility for countless unprecedented, unethical, and un-American deeds for so long.
But Democrats have overplayed their hand. Trump’s indictment will permanently mar our politics and even our justice system because it sent the message that the U.S. government, created to preserve and protect liberty, is not above using the nation’s law enforcement apparatus as a weapon against a political opponent, a tactic commonly employed by authoritarian leaders seeking to maintain power.
As damaging as the optics of this move have been domestically, its implications go well beyond our shores. With this move, the United States has further lost moral authority, and foreigners are quickly losing respect for America.
In a very telling Twitter post following Trump’s arraignment last week, Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele wrote, “Think what you want about former President Trump and the reasons he’s being indicted. But just imagine if this happened in any other country, where a government arrested the main opposition candidate. The United States ability to use ‘democracy’ as foreign policy is gone.”
The loss of credibility on the world stage could not come at a worse time. The Biden administration’s foreign policy missteps have already pushed Russia and China, our two biggest geopolitical foes, into a deeper relationship. And a Chinese-brokered peace deal has just reestablished diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, our former ally.
China is also taking steps to challenge the dominance of the U.S. dollar in foreign trade. For the moment, the dollar’s supremacy as the global currency remains secure, according to the Wall Street Journal . But “the share of U.S. dollars in foreign-exchange reserves of global central banks has slipped in recent years,” and a new trade deal between China and Brazil to use the Chinese yuan suggests this problem is going to continue to grow.
The fact is that other countries have little respect for a government that flouts its own laws and exacerbates increased division and instability. The morning after the indictment was announced, Petr Bystron, a member of the right-wing Alternative for Germany Party, delivered a powerful speech on the Bundestag floor. Bystron told colleagues:
It’s true, we share many values with the United States. And yes, the USA has been our friend and partner for decades. U.S. Presidents like Truman, Kennedy and Reagan stood for the values we share. They stood for the freedom of the Western world. They stood for democracy and everything that is enshrined in the Bill of Rights: freedom of assembly, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press. They stood for protecting our sovereign nations, for a free market economy and individual responsibility; for traditional Christian values, for our families and our nation.
But today’s Biden administration does not stand for any of that. The Biden administration stands for a woke, globalist ideology that has as little to do with original American values as the left-green ideology in Germany. The United States of the Clintons and Epsteins, of Soros, Biden and Zuckerberg, is not our friend.
His comments created quite a stir in the parliamentary chamber and show that Republicans aren’t the only ones noticing the Democratic Party’s abandonment of traditional American values.
Foreigners see the damage inflicted on the country over the past two years. How can it possibly be that so many Americans are missing it? What will it take for the majority of Americans to finally realize that the values on which this country was founded and the freedoms we’ve taken for granted are being deliberately and methodically stripped from us?
With each new outrage, we think the Left has finally jumped the shark and that no honest person would continue to believe their senseless rhetoric, but we are consistently proven wrong. Voters had their chance to make their voices heard in November, yet the anticipated red wave turned out to be a trickle.
But Republicans must still do what they can to stem the tide of rampant leftism. They need to play hardball.
Republican district attorneys and state attorneys general need to start looking at the activities of Democratic operatives in their jurisdictions.
House Republicans need to expose the Biden family’s alleged foreign influence peddling scheme. Who was the fourth Biden to receive funds from a Chinese energy company?
Former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci must be questioned under oath.
Additionally, early voting and ballot harvesting are here to stay, and Republicans need to get on board if they want to win elections.
In short, we need to employ the tactics they use against us against them.
