THE WAY I SEE IT by Don Polson Red Bluff Daily News 4/20/2021
Lies
travel while truth gets dressed
As Winston Churchill (or
Mark Twain) opined, “A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a
chance to get its pants on” (Brainyquote.com). Long before Churchill’s or Twain’s
iterations, consider Jonathon Swift’s 1710 entry in his political newspaper,
The Examiner:
“Besides, as the vilest
Writer has his Readers, so the greatest Liar has his Believers; and it often
happens, that if a Lie be believ’d only for an Hour, it has done its Work, and
there is no farther occasion for it. Falsehood flies, and the Truth comes limping
after it; so that when Men come to be undeceiv’d, it is too late; the Jest is
over, and the Tale has had its Effect…”
Who can forget, or forgive,
Harry Reid, then-Senator (D-NV) and Majority Leader, telling the world from the
Senate floor, August 2012, that candidate Mitt Romney hadn’t paid taxes? “So,
the word is out that he has not paid any taxes for ten years. Let him prove
that he has paid taxes, because he hasn’t.” While Reid repeated his inflammatory
claim in other venues, some news outlets expressed doubts—Politifact.com gave
it a “Pants on fire!” rating.
In 2015, with
retirement looming, Reid admitted to CNN, with a shrug and a smirk—without saying
he lied—“I don’t regret that at all…Romney didn’t win, did he?” News outlets
from Huffpo.com to Time.com to WashingtonExaminer.com pilloried Reid for his
blatant, shameless prevarication. Ends justifying means?
His stature among his
party suffered not a whit; it could be said that there is a continuum of such
dastardly election tactics through the many frauds in numerous states that
added to Biden’s total. A thin majority of voters, and most Republicans, have
high certainty of a stolen election, especially when it's been found that 15-20
percent of Democrats wouldn’t have voted for Biden if they had known of one or
more scandals. The Hunter Biden laptop (that it was “Russian disinformation”
was itself Dem/media disinformation) revelations of Biden family corruption vis-s-vis
China and Ukraine would have lost Biden the election; but media buried it.
Accusations against
Trump from day 1—of Russian collusion/Steele “dossier” (containing not one
confirmed fact according to the CIA, Bob Mueller, I.G. Horowitz), tax crimes,
Ukraine quid-pro-quo on the phone call to its president, to Jan. 6 “insurrection”—were
likewise coughed up out of the pit of lies that defines the Democrat Party.
Four years of such perfidy can’t be separated from the few tens of thousands of
votes by which Trump lost.
The “Russian bounties”
story was, in June 2020, “the final nail” in Trump’s reelection coffin. As
Glenn Greenwald, one of the few honest, liberal reporters, wrote last week:
“That Russia placed ‘bounties’
on the heads of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan was one of the most-discussed and
consequential news stories of 2020. It was also, as it turns out, one of the
most baseless — as the intelligence agencies who spread it through their media
spokespeople now admit, largely because the tale has fulfilled and outlived its
purpose.” (from “Journalists, Learning They Spread a CIA Fraud About Russia,
Instantly Embrace a New One; The most significant Trump-era alliance is between
corporate outlets and security state agencies, whose evidence-free claims they
unquestioningly disseminate,” Greenwald.substack.com, 4/16.
See also “The New York
Times’ ‘Russian Bounties’ Story Just Unraveled—U.S. officials walk back claim
that Russia paid bounties for dead U.S. Soldiers in Afghanistan,” by Rick
Moran, pjmedia.com, 4/15).
About that “New One (fraud),”
the media lapdogs found yet another Trump/Russia collusion story “too good to
be verified,” in a press release from Biden’s Treasury Secretary, Janet Yellen:
One Konstantin Kilimnik, a Russian-Ukrainian political consultant was being
sanctioned because, Yellen asserted, “Kilimnik provided the Russia intelligence
services with sensitive information on polling and campaign strategy” that he
received from then-Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort.”
In hindsight and in
summary, the CIA or related security agencies have fed American journalists a
steady stream of assertions, (ultimately disproven fabrications) directed at undermining
President Donald J. Trump to hamstring him in office; and assure these
self-styled possessors-of-delivered-policy-wisdom of his defeat. Near the top
of Greenwald’s “Journalists…Spread a CIA Fraud…” he included lists of dozens of
“ex-spooks who served as media figures in the Trump years” (credit to Matt Taibbi—https://t.co/g7nWvsXmFf).
Readers are likely
aware (Dems should try to keep up) that all the outrage over Georgia’s “election
integrity” amounts to malicious lies like the “it won’t allow water for those
in line.” Actually, nothing can be given to voters within a certain distance of
the polling station…by…partisan…political…actors. That Biden encouraged the
boycotts against Georgia proves he is the opposite of a “uniter,” setting state
against state.
Consider that Biden,
his mouthpiece Psaki, et al have embraced the diabolical “Critical Race Theory”
of systemic, our-Constitution-is-racist-as-founded. There is no such thing as
uniting around such garbage—they mimic Communist China’s propaganda. I hope
parents are closely watching that Tehama County schools don’t start trying to
program students to hate “white-ness,” hate America and hate our God-given
freedom to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, as is going on right now in
Santa Clara County.
“California county
teacher training: U.S. a ‘parasitic’ system due to ‘invasion’ of white men” (Thecollegefix.com,
7/14), describes Santa Clara county’s implementation of California’s new ethnic
studies curriculum. According to a new report by Christopher Rufo at City
Journal, presenters at the Santa Clara workshops “encouraged teachers to inject
left-wing politics into the classroom and to hide controversial materials from
parents.” Give these leftist America-haters a generation of our children, and
our nation is lost to the ash heap of Marxist/Communist slavery.
