THE WAY I SEE IT by Don Polson Red Bluff Daily News 1/25/2022
The left projecting its own villainy
Recent critics may find their arguments refuted; or they may not.
A couple of blatant “fake news” stories (Democrats first aimed the term
at Trump conservatives; Trump famously reversed the barb against the media): 1)
NPR’s debunked assertion that a diabetic Justice Sotomayor requested, with
Chief Justice Roberts’ approval, that all Justices wear masks, while Justice
Gorsuch refused, causing Sotomayor to participate via remote.
All 3 justices stated their denials of that story, meaning it was made up
by someone at National Public Radio, or was fabricated elsewhere and fed to
NPR. Just the left projecting a) their disregard of the unhealthy effects of
masking and COVID-required postponement of medical care; and b) venomous ill-wishes
upon conservative Gorsuch—accusing him of wanting Sotomayor to die, and wishing
he died from COVID.
2) Then came thinly-veiled propaganda to sow discord among
Trump-supporting Republicans: A (phony) schism between Donald Trump and Gov.
Ron DeSantis. Issuing from the bowels of Democrat mischief, it spread rapidly
as news/social media tried to beat out the denials by both Republicans. Just Leftists
projecting their own discord.
Knee-jerk reversion to censorship, of what they call “misinformation,”
often dovetails with “fact checks” by those who’ve forgotten their need for a
daily tally of presidential lies now that the liar is named Joe Biden.
Conservatives have had fun repeating dated assertions by such “gold standards”
of truth as Dr. (treats-no-patients) Fauci, or the CDC’s Walensky, or the NIH’s
Collins, that are now—if written or stated by us—used to cancel media accounts
for “speech or thought crimes.”
No assertions here have been false or inaccurate when written. “When the facts
change, I change my mind…” as Winston Churchill pithily said; hence, COVID
vaccine protection has yielded to the reality that they no longer prevent
infection (Walensky). Also, school closures over “safety,” in favor of “remote
learning,” have undermined students’ personal and mental classroom learning—and
emotional maturation.
This column echoed other calls for ending mandates last year based on,
among other examples, Sweden’s (never locked down or mandated) and Florida’s (abandoned
mandates in favor of focused protection of elderly) experience allowing
citizens to live free of onerous personal and business restrictions.
Previously lock-stepped medical and science thought-leaders are coming
around to “living with it.” Who was really out of touch, spreading “misinformation”?
More are taking the advice of Dr. Peter McCullough: “Vaccines failed in
stopping COVID-19 and mandates have to be dropped.” The emergence of the
vaccine-resistant, clearly milder, Omicron variant has put previous
justifications—for consigning the “unvaxxed” to second-class status, unworthy
of medical treatment—in the trash.
A paper by Young-Xu in JAMA (gold-standard medical journal) found vaccine
effectiveness dropped from 62.0 % (month one) to 57.8 % (month three) and
reached a low of about 20 % (months five through seven). “And now
a paper from Hansen from Denmark, and from the UK public health security report,
indicated [that] against Omicron the vaccines are basically ineffective,”
McCullough continued. “The Danish study…found that vaccine effectiveness
against Omicron” declined to 36.7%.
We’re vaxxed and boosted, and glad of it for the margin of protection
from serious illness. People should be confident in their own, and their doctor’s,
determination of need. However, the COVID-19 vaccines have largely failed in
stopping the transmission of the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus,
especially for the most recent Omicron variant, so the vaccine mandate should
be thrown away, according to Dr. McCullough.
“The vaccines themselves have basically now become obsolete as the virus
has continued to mutate,” McCullough told NTD’s “Capitol Report” in an
interview broadcast on Wednesday. “So, at this point of time, the vaccine
mandates have to be dropped across the board…
“We can’t have Americans have fear about losing their job or school or
travel related to a failed vaccine,” McCullough said. “But even more so we need
to re-examine what we’ve done with respect to our public health priorities and
COVID-19.” McCullough said that in March and April 2020, America should have
had large randomized trials and moved very quickly into studying multi-drug
treatments. However, the federal authorities refused to do so and made a big
push for vaccines.
McCullough also shared the treatment for COVID-19 patients with the
Omicron variant. “Fortunately with the Omicron variants very mild, the main
treatment is oral nasal virucidal washes with dilute povidone-iodine or
hydrogen peroxide 12. Clinical trials show the biggest benefit of that is more
than any other form of treatment,” McCullough said. For our part, we use Golden
Seal, Pau d’arco, vitamins C, D, and saline flushes.
Shane Miller speaks for me: “It’s time to put the pandemic era behind us,”
citing cancellation (in the UK, EU and Canada) of “the COVID-induced madness
that has done more harm than good for the last 19 months…”
Unlike the left-side writer, it’s rather obvious to me that that great
advocate for a color-blind nation, Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. would—rather
than cast aspersions at America’s patriotic, right-leaning citizenry—have harsh
words for the race-obsessed Democrat progressives. Dr. King sought to have
Americans united in the cause of removing barriers to advancement for the downtrodden
of all colors.
“What Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. would say about Biden’s new
COVID-19 policy,” by Speaker Newt and Mrs. Gingrich, critically looks at the
FDA’s use of “race or ethnicity” to guide doctors’ prescribing of monoclonal
antibody treatments. To Biden’s shame, the administration-wide misuse of race
to castigate political opponents, and stoke animosity between Americans of
different ethnicities, is among the vilest acts of any leader in our long,
otherwise improving nation’s history.
