THE WAY I SEE IT by Don Polson Red Bluff Daily News 2/16/2021
Through
the looking-glass of leftism
Also, “Weaving webs,
practicing to deceive.” Observe and study the progressive left, and Democrat
leaders and influencers; many woven webs of practiced deception, in effect,
create the opposite of almost any asserted reality.
“Through the
Looking-Glass (and What Alice Found There)” was Lewis Carroll’s follow-up novel
to “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” Alice found a fantastical reality by
climbing through a mirror to a world beyond it. “There she finds that, just
like a reflection, everything is reversed, including logic (for example,
running helps you remain stationary, walking away from something brings you
towards it,” chessmen and nursery rhyme characters live, etc. It’s like trying
to eliminate racism by obsessing on race.
The years-long “jihad”
against (now ex-) President Trump—together with the unprecedented and
fantasy-based impeachments—constitute the greatest (or worst) episodes in
American history: of mass delusion, propaganda and deception foisted by one
political side upon the populace in general, and conservative Republicans in
particular.
The “keeping” of our
Republic—Benjamin Franklin said the Framers of the Constitution had delivered,
to the people, “a Republic, if you can keep it”—relies upon, and requires, an
informed and discriminating (as in discriminating truth from falsehood)
citizenry. It also eschews the persecution of any political, racial or
ideological group by those holding the reins of power; Dems control legislative
and executive branches in D.C.
Those wishing to escape
the yoke of one-party rule, as exists in California, Illinois and New York,
have the wherewithal to hire a moving van, relocate and reestablish their
livelihoods and lives in states like Utah, Idaho, Texas or Oklahoma, that favor
smaller, less intrusive government and more thriving economies. The options of
other countries with similarly conservative societies and economies are few.
We are, in America,
dangerously close to establishing a political, ideological, educational and cultural
despotism wherein speech, even thoughts and values, can be proclaimed
unacceptable, legally prosecuted or at least shunned and economically
“cancelled” by other citizens. They’re self-styled enforcers of “political
correctness,” or “social justice warriors.” You may recall that, after Prop 8
passed in 2008—making only marriage between a man and a woman constitutionally
legal (overturned by CA Supreme Court)—there arose a vicious, retaliatory
effort to punish contributors and supporters, even to the harassment of little,
old Mormon women. Shameful.
On the despicable
second effort to remove Trump from office—except that he’s out of office
already with nothing but hideous legal blathering about how the Constitution
permits Congress to punish a citizen (hint: that’s a “Bill of attainder”
forbidden by Article I, Sections 9 and 10).
It was deliciously
ironic to witness the dozens of Democrats calling for “fighting” (often “like
hell”), the accosting of Trump supporters, even Joe Biden (and other Dems)
boasting of punching Trump in the face, or taking him “behind the gym” to beat
him up. Then to hear the repeated calls by President Trump for “law and order”
and to “peaceably and patriotically” engage in the God-given right to “assemble
to petition for redress of grievances” (First Amendment, U.S. Constitution).
We now know that 1)
Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell knew of the threats of potential violence
indicated by the Chief of Capitol Police’s request for beefed up security and
Trump’s offer of National Guard troops—before Jan. 6; 2) both antifa (like the
camera-wielding John Sullivan who also exhorted the breaking-and-entering) and
rightwing extremists never listened to Trump’s speech before converging on the
Capitol; 3) Pipe bombs were placed the night before; 4) Deceased officer Brian
Sicknick—God rest his soul and comfort his family—had no signs of trauma, complained
to his brother about pepper spray, and could not have been “beaten with a fire
extinguisher”; 5) no one at the “Stop the Steal” rally was found with weapons;
and 6) the only fatality, Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt, had no weapon and
wasn’t a threat to anyone while crawling through a broken window.
Look up: “What Happened
to Officer Brian Sicknick? No one should discount the idea that Democrats and
the news media would intentionally promote a totally fabricated story to
destroy Donald Trump and vilify his supporters” by Julie Kelly
(Amgreatness.com, Feb 8).
Final facts: 1) Out of
22 Republican lawsuits decided on the merits, 15 were judged in their favor, disproving
the “60 losing lawsuits filed by Trump et al”—most were never heard on the
merits. It was possible that courts would’ve given Trump wins in enough states
to have won the Electoral vote.
2) 61% of Republican
voters (34% of all voters) say Biden “did not win the election fairly”; 42% of
voters say mail-in voting led to unprecedented voter fraud—including 11% of
Democrats and 46% of Independents (Rasmussen Reports, Feb. 12).
3) While no proof of
fraud was alleged or found, Time magazine’s Molly Ball’s “Secret History of the
Shadow Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election” does show beyond doubt that “a
secret alliance of left-wing activists, union leaders and corporate CEOs worked
together to help craft unprecedented changes in the rules governing the way
America votes.” With the COVID threat as pretext, massive mail-in voting
changes were implemented by governors, judges and election officials. They
evaded state legislatures—the bodies given sole authority under U.S. and state
constitutions to change election procedures—it was all illegal.
“This is no small
thing, to restore a republic after it has fallen into corruption…I cannot
recall it ever happening. It may be that our task is impossible. Yet, if we do
not try then how will we know it can’t be done? And if we do not try, it most
certainly won’t be done. The Founders’ Republic, and the larger war for western
civilization, will be lost.” (anon.)
