THE WAY I SEE IT by Don Polson Red Bluff Daily News 10/27/2020
Promises,
winning vs. lies upon lies
This column’s not for the
hard-core, blood-boiling-over-Trump left; the “Biden’s a good placeholder,”
Harris-loving progressives; the “global warming as existential threat” climate
doomsayers; the “walls on our southern border are an abomination” sanctuary
cheerleaders; the Wu-flu, COVID-19 scare-mongers eager for universal mask
mandates and economic lockdowns until all viruses are eradicated; the
“universal health care,” single-payer fanatics; the “Trump colluded with Russia
in spite of Mueller’s not finding it”; and those who damn his supporters.
“Trump is betting on
something different: voters’ instincts. He thinks Americans want the country to
lead the world on its terms. He thinks Americans want a strong military and
that they don’t want to use it much. He thinks Americans like his “colorful” style
and that they prefer a president who says a vaccine is weeks away to one
predicting a ‘dark winter.’
“These things matter in
the center of the country…The politics of the battleground states are all
different and constantly changing.
“Trump’s last debate
was designed to remind: to remind everyone that Biden was elected to the Senate
in 1972. That the Paris climate accords were an awful giveaway intended to
impress Al Gore‘s “An Inconvenient Truth” faithful in America at the expense of
jobs in America. That the Iran deal was a strategic disaster and its demise
produced sweeping change for peace.
“Trump is betting that
his supporters — new and old — have grown accustomed to winning, the sort of
winning that Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation represents, and the sort of
winning that the Abraham Accords portends. And indeed, we love it.
“Trump is betting that
voters are smart. He reminded them Thursday night of why they sent him to the
swamp. Biden’s promise that the nation would “transition away from the oil
industry” added a dash of fresh absurdity to the claims of elite coastal
expertise.” (Hugh Hewitt, 10/22)
President Donald J.
Trump: “Joe Biden is a corrupt politician and he’s COMPROMISED. China is
desperate for Biden to win because if Biden Wins, CHINA WINS – and China will
OWN AMERICA. This corruption is EXACTLY why I decided to run for President in
the first place...For years, I watched one betrayal after another, as
politicians like Joe Biden sold out American Workers at every turn—shattering
the lives of millions of American families while THEIR families raked in
millions of dollars...I could not sit by and watch THEM take advantage of YOU
anymore. They are coming after me because I am standing in their way, and
standing guard for this Country we LOVE!” (a tweet on Saturday, caps in
original)
Joe Biden is corrupt?
Not a nice guy? Not a moderate? Make up your own mind. Nearly 50 years ago, Mr.
Biden sadly lost his wife, Neilia, and daughter in a car crash with a trucker,
Curtis Dunn. Biden’s sons, Beau and Hunter, were also injured. Very sad. Dunn
was cleared of any wrongdoing. Neilia had run a stop sign and was struck by Dunn,
who flipped his rig trying to avoid the car.
Joe Biden said the
trucker, Dunn, was “allegedly” drunk; in 2001 and 2007, he stated that the
driver had stopped to “drink his lunch.” Superior Court Judge O. Herlihy, who
oversaw the police investigation said, in 2008, “The rumor about alcohol being
involved by either party, especially the truck driver (Dunn), is incorrect.”
While Biden called one of Dunn’s children, Pamela, the next year, to apologize,
neither Biden nor his staff has ever publicly retracted the scurrilous “drunk
driving” suggestion.
I see that as a window
into Biden’s character, in which falsehoods, once made up and told, are never
taken back, but buttressed with further lies. He does it repeatedly, casting
blame on those that are blameless while holding up his own flawed character as
admirable.
Moderate? His own side
and VP Harris have bragged how Biden is flexible, malleable to the point of
taking orders from the left-most part of the party. The Democrat party of today
is ideologically nondifferent from the socialists of the 1930s and 40s. After
the 60s through the 80s, Democrats gave up “socialist” for “progressive”
identification. Lenin said socialism is communism because pure, “utopian”
communism is not practical, as Karl Marx also said.
Last week’s debate
contained a plethora of fabrications, misstatements and lies by Biden. “If
anyone is interested in fact checking, Biden lied about his son (that he made
no money from foreign countries), his own China/Burisma dealings (Biden took
meetings with them), whether he ever said he would end fracking (he did),
whether he used the word “predator” referring to Black youth (he did), whether
during catch and release offenders showed up to their hearings (they
overwhelmingly did not), about whether minimum wage increases result in
unemployment (they do), that Trump has done “nothing” on drug prices (he has),
about supposed Russian bounties on American soldiers (refuted by those present),
and so on.” (T. Del Beccaro.)
Biden turned history on
its head, saying we had good relations with Hitler before the war. No. The
American (Russian/communist-aligned) left had no beef with Hitler when he
abided by the “non-aggression” pact with Stalin, and opposed American entry
into WWII. They flipped on a dime when Hitler invaded Russia, demanding we
enter the war.
Meanwhile, the “laptop
from hell”—abandoned by Hunter for repairs, turned over to the FBI and the New
York Post, verified by DNI Ratcliff and the FBI to be genuine emails, not
Russian “disinformation”—contains extensive evidence. Not of certain
criminality, but of corrupt “pay to pay,” “quid pro quo” and “influence
peddling” by the Biden family and associates who had no marketable skills aside
from their connections to the “big guy,” Joe Biden.
