THE WAY I SEE IT by Don Polson Red Bluff Daily News 9/25/2018

It
is highly unlikely that any Republican, Trump-supporting voter has any doubt
about who is to be believed: Judge Bret Kavanaugh or his two (as of Monday
morning) accusers. His entire life story mitigates against any such conduct as
described and widely publicized by first, Ms. Blasey Ford, and now Ms. Ramirez;
neither woman can produce a scintilla of evidence or corroborating witness
statements. Unlike our once-admired Bill Cosby, whose secret assaults on often
drugged women has resulted in criminal punishment, Kavanaugh’s behavior is the
opposite of a morally corrupt son of privilege.
At
every noxious turn in this slow-rolling circus of orchestrated smears and
character assassinations, once you look beyond the media-created narrative and
the partisan bomb-throwers, once you dismiss the clear/near fabrications from
the accusers, and once you peel back the machinations of those like our despicable
and shameful Senator Diane Feinstein—you have what remains: Playbook tactics
and strategies used successfully against Robert Bork and unsuccessfully against
Clarence Thomas in their fights for Supreme Court seats.
To
briefly summarize: Feinstein hid, delayed and obfuscated the written statement
by Ford to the point of crass deception until called out by Republican Chairman
Grassley to provide it to the committee. Why? Don’t hold your breath for an
answer. Since Democrats are in the minority—and their then-leader Harry Reid
blew up the filibuster rule used by minorities to wield some power—they have no
hope of a voting defeat of Kavanaugh.
They
have understandably chosen to use every trick in their book of “resistance”
tactics to sully and stall the nomination process to the point of prompting
disgust in the parts of the electorate susceptible to their propaganda. It’s
drip, drip, drip between the screaming hacks and their outrageous claims—whatever
it takes, “the ends justify the means”—to the (hopefully futile) goal of
delaying Kavanaugh’s vote. They believe that Republicans will tire in
exhaustion and withdraw him from consideration.
Of
course, the “scorched earth” strategy was ready, waiting only for a name put
forth by President Trump, as we saw when the mob of usual protesters showed up
with signs condemning the (fill-in-the-blank) Supreme Court nominee. It could
have been any of the 25 or so judges that Trump listed as nominees. Never
forget that when then-Senator Ted Kennedy ran to the microphones within minutes
of Pres. Reagan’s appointment of Robert Bork, he didn’t need a name to recite
his litany-of-horribles to come from Bork’s ascension to the Court. Any name would
do.
At
the mention of Ted Kennedy’s name, it bears considering actual spousal abuse,
sexual assault and similar perfidy by Democrats, which dovetails with the
pattern of false accusations past and present. Here are some article titles
that paint what I see as the truth of this matter: “Joe Kennedy’s tweet on
sexual assault insensitivity is a bit much—he tweets about sexual assaults when
politically convenient” (Howie Carr), “Concerned Dems aren’t concerned about
past sexual assaults by Dems” (Powerlineblog.com).
“Democrats’
smash and smear agenda reaches new heights” (Michael Goodwin), “The Top Five
Shameful Ways Democrats Have Tried to Thwart Kavanaugh’s Confirmation” and
“Four Reasons the New Accusations Against Kavanaugh Are Weaker Than Ford’s” (both
by Matt Margolis), “Democrats’ total personal war on Brett Kavanaugh should be
a Midterm wake-up call for Republicans—There but for fortune could go you or I”
(William A. Jacobson), and “The Farce This Time” (Scott Johnson on the
incredibly shoddy journalism of the Washington Post’s reporting on the
Kavanaugh accusers).
More
devastating takes: “Why Christine Blasey Ford’s High School Yearbooks Were
Scrubbed—Faculty Approved Racism, Binge Drinking and Promiscuity”
(Cultofthe1st.blogspot.com), “The drive to sink Kavanaugh is liberal
totalitarianism” (Sohrab Ahmari) and “Christine Blasey Ford’s Accusation Is the
Definition of a Non-Credible Sexual Assault Allegation” (John Hawkins). You
won’t find any of these articles in the Daily News, AP or other legacy news
sources. Motto: no bad news about Democrats.
On
false accusations: Salem witch trials, anyone? McMartin (and numerous other) Pre-school
child abuse accusers had “recovered memories” at the urging of child
psychologists—all made up. The Duke Lacrosse team faced professors, students and an
obsessed local prosecutor, who was ultimately disbarred, over fake charges of
rape and abuse. A UVA (Virginia) fraternity was nearly destroyed over a Rolling
Stone article recounting a gang rape that never, ever happened. The Rolling Stone
was fined millions in court.
It’s
too bad that the condemnation of abusers—and sympathy for victims—doesn’t
extend to fellow Democrats. How else to explain their virtual silence over 1)
Sen. Sherrod Brown’s ex-wife’s claim that Brown threw her up against a wall and
showed “physical violence and abusive nature.” A judge granted her a
restraining order. 2) Sen. Tom Carper admits he gave his ex-wife a black eye:
“Did I slap my wife? Yes…" 3) Cory “Spartacus” Booker has admitted groping a
friend when he was in high school in the 80s.
4)
Congressman Keith Ellison (D-MN) is credibly accused of assaulting two women, a
charge backed up by police records in one case. No one in his party cares
enough to question his position as Deputy Chair of the DNC, let alone say those
women have a right to be believed.
Rep.
Joe Kennedy III’s gangster great-grandfather, a one-time ambassador to Great
Britain, prompted a warning from his children to female friends to lock the
bedroom doors against his nighttime “wanderings.” Joe’s cousin, Michael Skakel,
was convicted of beating a young female neighbor to death with a golf club.
Another cousin, William Kennedy Smith, on trial for raping a mother in Palm
Beach, beat the charge when a judge withheld sworn depositions from 4 other young
women claiming attacks by W.K.Smith.
Finally,
2 names that should shut any Democrat’s mouth: Mary Jo Kopechne, abandoned to
die in a watery grave by Ted Kennedy, and…Bill Clinton.
