Does House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) still believe she’s in control of her party in the House?
This is not a widespread view.
And she ought to be aware of what other elected lawmakers in the House are saying about this (not that it hasn’t been said before).
Earlier this year in this impeachment rush against President Donald Trump, she proclaimed that she was not in favor of impeachment unless there was compelling, overwhelming and bipartisan support for it.
That went out the window pretty fast as other Democrats pushed her to take action.
Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) (shown above right, at the top of this article) — the House GOP whip — spoke on Thursday night on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” to guest host Jason Chaffetz about what’s happened to Pelosi and the Democrats overall this past year.
“The AOC wing of the party changed and really started controlling her caucus,” he said, referencing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) (shown above left).
“And so, it’s no longer Nancy Pelosi calling the shots — and you think about anybody who follows in the things that she’s been forced into doing, it’s been mostly the far-Left socialist wing of the party and it’s not just Pelosi,” added Scalise.
“You see AOC shaping the presidential debates on things like the Green New Deal and some of these other lunatic policies, where they’re pushing the presidential candidates so far to the socialist Left, that you can’t even recognize them,” he also said.
“And so the fact that they’re all kowtowing to that most radical element of their base,” added Scalise, “instead of [being] focused on the bread-and-butter issues, the things that got them the majority … Most hardworking families are looking, going, ‘What do these people really care about?’ They care about their own power and their hatred against the president — instead of the things that folks at home care about.”
“And frankly that’s why Donald Trump is doing so well,” noted Scalise.
“He’s stayed focused on the things that [the American people] care about.”
