If I had to come up with one word to describe Barack Obama, that word would would be "honest." As anybody who was alive and awake for the past decade can tell you, Obama has never, ever lied about anything. And as they can also tell you, accusing him of lying is racist. That's why all the smart, cool people make a big show of believing everything Obama says and never questioning his devotion to the truth.
That's also why Obama can get away with saying amazing $#!+ like the following in public:
Unfortunately, too much of politics today seems to reject the very concept of objective truth. People just make stuff up. They just make stuff up. We see it in the growth of state-sponsored propaganda. We see it in Internet-driven fabrications. We see it in the blurring of lines between news and entertainment. We see the utter loss of shame among political leaders, where they're caught in a lie and they just double down and they lie some more.
Look, let me say, politicians have always lied. But it used to be, if you caught them lying, they'd be like, 'Aw, man...' Now they just keep on lying! ...Me just not completely lying to people, I think, is pretty basic. I don't think myself a great leader just because I don't just completely make stuff up. You'd think that was kind of just a baseline.
Anyway, we see it in the promotion of anti-intellectualism and the rejection of science from leaders who find critical thinking and analysis and data somehow politically inconvenient. And as with the denial of rights, the denial of facts runs counter to democracy. It could be its undoing.
I know, right? It used to be that the president of the United States didn't just make stuff up. And when he did get caught lying, he admitted it. Every time. Because it never happened.
The list of stuff Obama told the truth about is infinite, of course. But here are just a few notable examples of completely honest statements made by the most scandal-free POTUS in history:
"[Bill Ayers] is a guy who lives in my neighborhood.... He's not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis..." (And can you believe how racist Hillary Clinton used to be?)
According to Obama, one month before the 2012 election, the Benghazi attack was caused by a YouTube video. (If you say it with a straight face and maintain a level tone of voice, that means it's true.)
"If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor." If anybody claims they liked their doctor before Obamacare but couldn't keep their doctor after Obamacare, they're lying. All of them.
These are just a few of the many examples of Obama's complete honesty. Again: These things, and all the other things Obama has ever said, are true. And when he got caught lying about them, he didn't double down. He owned up to those false statements, which he never made because he's a really honest person.
But seriously, folks. Obama and Trump are different in many ways, but they both shamelessly lie their asses off all the time. It's just that Obama is a bit smoother about it, so people who haven't been paying attention just shrug and say, "Sounds legit." And of course, Obama can depend on a compliant media eagerly backing him up.
After 10 years of listening to Obama say things that he knows are not true, I've come to the conclusion that he just plain enjoys it. He likes lying. He derives pleasure from being dishonest. And what could be a bigger thrill than standing up before an adoring crowd and lying about his entire previous decade of lying? He spends all his time gaslighting you, and then he denies there's even a gaslight at all. Those other guys reject the very concept of objective truth. He just can't get enough of it. Wink, wink.
Barack Obama has never lied to you, and he promises that he'll never lie to you again.
Honest!
