You're reading this right now, so I'm going to assume you didn't vote for Hillary Clinton. I certainly didn't! (You're welcome, Pat Paulsen.) And because you and I didn't vote for Hillary Clinton, the people who did vote for her are constantly accusing us of misogyny. We hate women, supposedly. We're part of the sexist, patriarchal rape culture and whatnot. The Democrats, the people who shoved Hillary aside in 2008 because "Young Black Guy" was higher on the victimhood pyramid than "Old White Lady," seem to think that the main reason Hillary lost was that she had a vagina. What else could it be, right?
The problem with this theory is that the rest of us remember stuff. We remember how Dems treat women. We remember Keith Olbermann calling Michelle Malkin "a mashed-up bag of meat with lipstick on it," and telling S.E. Cupp that her parents should've aborted her. We remember David Letterman being a sexist jackass to Sarah Palin. We remember everybody else being sexist jackasses to Sarah Palin. We remember what Dems said about Michele Bachmann, and Megyn Kelly, and Mary Katharine Ham, and Ann Coulter, and Dana Loesch, and any other woman who dared to think for herself. We remember that Dems are capable of being really horrific misogynists.
If anything, it's only getting worse now that they can use Trump as an excuse. Trump says awful things about women, so why can't they? They're better than him, which is why they need to behave just like him.
Or worse. Here's what happened last night when Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao was just minding her own business:
A bunch of bros in backwards ballcaps yelling at a small Asian woman. That's a good look, right? And then she backed them down, with the help of a female Secret Service agent. Let this be a lesson to anybody who wants to mess with Cocaine Mitch and his lady.
Here's what happened this weekend when Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi went to the movies:
And now, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is getting Secret Service protection. It wasn't enough to insult her looks at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, and it wasn't enough to kick her out of a restaurant just because she works for the wrong president. The world still isn't the way the Dems want it, so now they have to threaten Sanders' life to the point where the Secret Service has to step in.
But of course, none of this is the fault of our moral, ethical, and intellectual betters. Being a Democrat is a license to behave any way you like. You can be as much of a misogynist pig as you want. You can scream at women all day, call them every name in the book, and it's okay. Because they're not really women, right? If they were really women, they'd do what you tell them and think the things you tell them to think.
How long will it be until actual violence breaks out? The only thing stopping it is the Democrats' restraint, and they're not exactly known for their restraint. We're already seeing victim-blaming and excuses for screaming at political opponents in public places. Violence will be the next step, and they'll rationalize that too.
The 2016 election broke these people. They were so convinced they had it all figured out, but for the past 18 months they've endured one defeat after another. They're so convinced that reality has betrayed them that they have no other choice but to lash out at anybody who dares to disagree with them.
Jonathan V. Last points to this moment from The Hunt for Red October:
"This business will get out of control. It'll get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it."
And when it does, it'll be everybody's fault except the people committing the actual violence. "Hey, those bitches were askin' for it!"
