Germany Arrests ISIS Recruiter Posing as Asylum Seeker

A 21-year old from Morocco has been arrested by German authorities at a refugee center near Stuttgart on suspicion of being an Islamic State recruiter. The man was sought under a European arrest warrant issued by Spanish authorities. He used a false identity to pose as an asylum seeker.
According to The New Observer, this is the first time German authorities have arrested a terror suspect masquerading as an asylum seeker.
At the same time it was reported the German government seized 10,000 fake Syrian passports, which are being sold to those seeking to gain entry to the EU for around $1,500 each. Possession of a Syrian passport makes claiming asylum a lot easier.
Out of 213,000 migrants who arrived in April, only 44,000 were from Syria, according to figures from Eurostat, the official EU statistics agency. Others come from a variety of countries including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nigeria, and across North Africa.
Clarion has previously reported on the delicate balancing act now required of Europe’s policy makers in response to the crisis. TheIslamic State has said it is importing fighters into Europe disguised as refugees. These numbers will be compounded by the threat from returning European citizens who fought as jihadists in Syria.
ISIS is also profiting from the lucrative people-smuggling industry that has sprung up as the Syrian Civil War has worsened. Timemagazine reported earlier this year it had seen intelligence reports saying ISIS had deliberately attacked refugee camps and created additional refugees to create more refugees – and thus more customers for its people-smuggling operation.
Queen Rania of Jordan, whose country has so far taken in 1.4 million refugees, called on Europe to take in more asylum seekers, warning that failure to do so "risks creating a defeated and disillusioned generation,' she said, 'who, at their most desperate, could be susceptible to extremists' ideology."
Yet Saudi Arabia and the other wealthy countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have slammed their doors, refusing to accept any Syrian refugees.
Instead, Saudi Arabia has offered to construct 200 mosques in Germany for Syrian refugees who arrive there, something Oxford Professor and prominent atheist Richard Dawkins branded a “sick joke.” He asked on Twitter, “Is it conceivable that Saudi seriously thinks MOSQUES will contribute to the welfare of the migrants in Germany?”
This shows the intent of Saudi Arabia – not to help those fleeing the war, but to use them as pawns in their attempt to spread their Wahhabist form of Islam (the root of all Sunni Islamist movements) around the world.
Europe must be careful in balancing its humanitarian obligations with its security needs.

GREEN ENERGY FAILURE OF THE WEEK

GREEN ENERGY FAILURE OF THE WEEK

Anyone remember the radon scare of the late 1970s and early 1980s? One of the typically perverse outcomes of that era was the finding that insulating houses actually increasedradon levels in homes because it reduced ventilation. Of course, as so often is the case, we later recognized that the radon hazard was way overblown—even the New York Timesfigured this out by the late 1980s. Another “I-told-you-so” moments for skeptics of environmental alarmism.
But in the “same damn thing over and over again” department, enjoy this story from The Guardian:
The number of Britons with asthma could almost double by 2050 because the air inside homes is becoming more polluted as they become more energy-efficient, a new report warns.
The trend towards airtight houses could also worsen allergies as well as breathing problems, and even exacerbate lung cancer and heart problems, according to a leading expert in indoor air quality. . .
It predicts that by 2050 – the date by which Britain is supposed to have achieved an 80% cut in carbon emissions – declining indoor air quality could have led to:
■ An 80% rise in the 5.4 million people already suffering from asthma.
■ Concentrations of volatile organic compounds – chemicals linked to the use of aerosols – being 60% above World Health Organisation 24-hour limits.
■ Nitrogen dioxide levels rising to 30% above the WHO’s limits.
But of course. Why would you have expected any other result? And who needs Volkswagens to juice NOx levels when you’ve got “green” home insulation doing the job for you so much more effectively.
Green Weenies all around I say.

OBAMA GIVES POPE FRANCIS THE FINGER

OBAMA GIVES POPE FRANCIS THE FINGER

President Obama has decided that his invited guests for the arrival of Pope Francis next week will include transgender activists, the first openly gay Episcopal bishop, and a nun who criticizes church policies on abortion and euthanasia. The Vatican has objected. It notes that photos taken with the pope might be used to suggest his endorsement of activities he does not approve.
I’m no fan of this pope. Thus, I’m tempted to think that if Pope Francis wants to embrace the left, let him experience the full menu.
What I actually think, however, is that Obama’s lack of respect for the pope is inexcusable. Including the nun who opposes church policy seems particularly egregious because Obama is gracelessly injecting himself into an internal church dispute.
Thus, I agree with Mona Charen who says:
It’s vintage Obama. Even when hosting the most ideologically sympathetic pontiff in his lifetime (climate change, Cuba), Mr. Obama cannot restrain himself. He cannot be civil and respectful, searching for common ground. . . .
We’ve become a little inured to this president’s staggering insensitivity and passive aggression over the years. But in this case, you’d have to remove the “passive” part. This is an embarrassing moment for our country.
I also agree with the editors of the Washington Post who say:
What struck us as we read about this small controversy is the contrast between the administration’s apparent decision to risk a bit of rudeness in the case of the pope and its overwhelming deference to foreign dictators when similar issues arise.
When Secretary of State John F. Kerry traveled to Havana to reopen the U.S. Embassy recently, he painstakingly excluded from the guest list any democrat, dissident or member of civil society who might offend the Castro brothers.
And when Chinese President Xi Jinping comes to the White House next week, shortly after the pope leaves town, it’s a safe bet that he won’t have to risk being photographed with anyone of whom he disapproves. Chen Guangcheng, the courageous blind lawyer, for example, lives nearby in exile, but he probably won’t be at the state dinner. Neither will Falun Gong activists, democracy advocates or anyone else who might, well, give offense.
Clearly, the Obama administration is more respectful of the Castro brothers and the Red Chinese president than he is of the leader of the Catholic church. Does he respect them more?
I wouldn’t be surprised. They are further to the left and impose their will more forcibly.
