Democrats Are Worried About the Biden Impeachment Inquiry—And Should Be
Last week, a resolution forming an official impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden’s criminal misconduct was announced, and a vote is expected this week. All indications are that Republicans have the votes to proceed.
And Democrats are nervous about this. Very nervous. Trust me. They talk tough to the media, claiming there’s no evidence linking Joe Biden to Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings, and that he was only selling the illusion of access, but the goods that House Republicans have uncovered have been quite damning. Based on the evidence we have already, an inquiry is likely to result in Biden being impeached.
And that’s why Democrats seem anxious to stop the inquiry dead in its tracks.
According to a report from Fox News, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the highest-ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, has been quietly meeting with Republicans on the committee hoping to “persuade them to abandon the impeachment effort” against Biden.
This is a pretty big deal. An unsuccessful impeachment could buoy Joe Biden significantly ahead of the 2024 presidential election, but Raskin seems intent on making sure it doesn’t get to that point.
According to Fox News Digital, Raskin has reportedly been engaging with "right-wing to more moderate members" to challenge GOP arguments, investigative steps, and evidence. Allegedly, certain Republicans have been "especially receptive to seeing the Administration’s record of cooperation with investigators."

Fox News Digital has also obtained so-called “fact sheets” that are to be distributed to members of both parties with the hope of killing the impeachment inquiry.
"These fact sheets are a hat in hand, fact-based appeal to House Republicans," a senior House Democratic aide told Fox News Digital. "Republicans may not be getting all of the facts from Mr. Comer, so we are making sure that they have the full picture as they decide whether to endorse this impeachment effort."
I’d love to know what facts Democrats claim to have that are more objective than bank records showing millions of dollars being laundered through Biden family shell companies from foreign sources. There is more evidence of Biden corruption here than there ever was evidence of Trump/Russia collusion or the alleged quid pro quo Democrats based their first impeachment of Trump on.
Based on the report, the memos are rather week, even crediting the Biden administration for providing "extraordinary cooperation" with the committee’s investigation, which is a laugh, considering how many times the committee has accused the administration of obstructing their investigations. But if the best argument they can make is that they’re cooperating, that’s not much to go on.
The Democrat fact sheets also dispute the claim that Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin was fired because he was investigating Burisma Holdings—even though we already have smoking gun evidence this was the case, and his firing was not part of the United States’ efforts to root out corruption in Ukraine. In fact, Obama administration officials in the State Department had invited Shokin and his staff to Washington for a strategy session and had indicated they were “impressed” with his work. It was actually emissaries for Burisma who were pressuring U.S. officials to make corruption allegations against their company go away over concerns about potential bribery payments made to get Shokin off their back It’s very clear from Obama Administration memos that when Joe Biden pressured Ukrainian officials to fire Shokin, he wasn’t acting on behalf of the administration, he was doing so to protect himself and his son Hunter, who allegedly were bribed five million each to protect Burisma.
There’s only one explanation for Raskin to be trying to quash the impeachment inquiry: he doesn’t want the evidence aired out in public hearings.
