There is zero question that liberals and conservatives view the world differently, but every once in a while, you get a peek at just how different those views are.
In two emails this week, the Democrats showed me they view the world in a way that makes me question whether or not we’re even on the same planet, let alone live in the same country.
The first email came from the campaign of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris under the subject line, “re: Mike Pence.”What, you may ask, would the President’s campaign be done by emailing the former Vice-President about? By all accounts, Mike Pence is a nice and good man, the exact opposite of everything Joe Biden is. Indeed, Biden is not looking to make people aware of the differences in their character, right?
Well, right. They weren’t doing that, at least not directly.
“Derek, Mike Pence is running for president,” it begins. “If that’s all you need to hear, rush a $25 contribution to the Biden-Harris campaign today to help defeat extreme MAGA Republicans like him.”
Does Mike Pence scare Democrats? He’s basically a more docile Mr. Rogers, but that, apparently, is something causing Democrats to lose sleep or something.
“But if you need a bit more to be convinced to pitch in, let us explain: In Mike Pence’s own words,” it continues, “he was a member of the extreme Tea Party ‘before it was cool’ -- and he hasn’t slowed down since. Pence pushed an extreme agenda in the Indiana statehouse and in Congress before becoming Donald Trump’s MAGA wingman for four years. After that, he campaigned alongside election-denying candidates in 2022 who wanted to overturn the results of the 2020 election.”
Imagine being afraid of Mike Pence.
Of course, they aren’t afraid of Mike Pence; they’re trying to make every one of their supporters afraid of every Republican the way they’ve trained them to be afraid of Donald Trump. Therefore, every Republican is not only Donald Trump; they’re worse than Donald Trump, no matter how absurd the concept sounds.
“Now, he's promising to take the Trump-Pence agenda even further -- leading the charge for a national abortion ban, cutting Medicare, and ending Social Security as we know it,” they conclude. “Pence has spent his career pushing an extreme agenda, and he will drive the whole 2024 GOP field to the right in their race for the MAGA base. But at the end of the day, remember this: We’ve defeated him before, and we’ll defeat him again. Rush a $25 donation to the Biden-Harris campaign to help fight back against extreme MAGA Republicans like Mike Pence.”
Pathetic.
But that’s not the most pathetically disconnected thing Democrats tried to fundraise off of recently; that title goes to Jamie Raskin.
Hypocritical Raskin, a Maryland Democrat whose very first act as a Member of Congress was an attempt to block the certification of the 2016 Electoral College certification (insurrection much?), has morphed from a greasy-haired fraud to a political suicide bomber. He represents a deep blue and highly wealthy area of the state, so he’s free to make himself look like a bigger fool than he really is, and being so close to DC frees him to go on TV all the time, even when Congress is in recess. Those qualities, if you can call them that, and a willingness to put party over dignity, decency, or even family and friends, made him the perfect MSNBC Democrat.
There have always been hacks, but they are rarely a celebrated face of a party. Raskin is.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee sent out a “Jamie Raskin Update,” like people were wondering what a lying weasel was up to.
It starts, “We’ve reached out 6 times about Jamie Raskin’s urgent fight to defend our democracy from insurrectionist Republicans. That’s how important this is. But those very same Republicans are raising MILLIONS and surging in the polls -- and could be on the verge of DEFENDING their MAGA Majority if we don’t act fast. That’s why we’re joining Jamie Raskin in this fight and calling on EVERY grassroots Democrat to step up before it’s too late. Can we count on your help and your $3 to the DCCC before midnight to defeat dangerous House Republicans and make Democratic heroes like Jamie Raskin proud?”
How devoid of honest or even marginally good people must a party be to elevate Jamie Raskin?
“When a Democratic hero like Jamie Raskin calls on us to defend our democracy, we won’t dare let him down,” they close their pitch. Gross, just gross.
The world views of the two parties are so wildly different that Joe Biden – sniffer of children, groper of staff, raiser of drug addicts, and millionaire from “public service” – is a hero, and Mike Pence is a threat; Jamie Raskin is the best they can come up with out of hundreds of Members of Congress?
We view the world so differently that I don’t know how we can live together on the same planet, let alone in the same country.
