Most think increased gov’t spending hurts economy

POLL: Most think increased gov’t spending hurts economy « Bankrupting America

Last week, Rasmussen Reports released a poll to which the deficit commission, White House, and Congress should pay careful attention.

According to Rasmussen, 56% of likely voters believe increases in government spending hurt the economy, while only 25% believe they help the economy.

When it comes to spending decreases, 52% of likely voters believe spending cuts help the economy; 25% believe they hurt the economy.

Excess government spending places a heavy burden on the American economy. And raising taxes to pay for this excess spending further compounds the problem by pulling money out of the economy and stunting economic growth.

This poll shows that average Americans seem to have learned this lesson. We hope the deficit commission and lawmakers in Washington listen to the wisdom of the people.

Also, check out our new video outlining the out-of-control spending that people recognize as harmful to our economy.
