THE WAY I SEE IT by Don Polson Red Bluff Daily News 6/08/2021
Scientists,
leaders just not credible
Start at the top of the
left’s political pyramid: Barack Hussein Obama. His comfort level around anti-Semites
like Louis Farrakhan and other rabid pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel figures, like
Edward Said and Rashid Khalidi, is no aberration—it’s shared by numerous other
Democrats with visceral hatred for Israel. The Los Angeles Times reportedly
possesses a recording of toasts by Obama for Khalidi at a dinner in LA, never shared
with the public. Given Dem’s disrespect for Trump’s Abraham Accords, we suspect
the worst.
Barack Obama had the
gall to assert, in a podcast with a fawning reporter, that good economic results,
both before and after the pandemic, are due to his policies, not Donald Trump’s.
It’s a clever way to deny Trump credit for an unemployment rate that declined for
3 years of Trump’s presidency (following lesser rates of decline under Obama).
That’s like getting in the front of a parade, claiming leadership.
Obama even said, “without
evidence” (routinely inserted after every Trump statement), that the inroads
Trump made with non-White voters were—sit down for this counterintuitive bit of
nonsense—not due to Trump’s policies and outreach to minorities. Those inroads were,
again, apparently due to Obama’s economic “boom;” Black voters mistakenly credited
Trump for their lower unemployment and rising incomes.
Unlike Democrat/media
smearing of all Trump-supporting Republicans with a broad brush (racist, white
supremacists, etc.), I have never said all Democrats are “this” or “that.” Many
Democrats take such blather from Obama for the blatant spinning of history that
it is; they voted for Trump and shut up about it. Many have re-registered as
Independents or even Republicans but practice political “stealth” around family,
friends and coworkers.
Reasonable Democrats probably know that the
bumbling, stumbling leftist ideologue at the top—and the nasally shrill, self-absorbed,
self-reverential V.P. Kamala Harris—can’t get reelected against Trump, Gov. Ron
DeSantis or any America First, strong-borders, low-taxes, freedom-loving Republican.
You know what we stand for.
Now consider, without
ideological blinders, “The Hole in ‘Kamala-nomics': A Glaring Flaw Plagues the
Veep's Plan to Restore the Economy—The vice president wants to double down on
the same approach that caused our grave problems in the first place” by Brad
Polumbo (fee.org, June 2). He refers to her cover story in Forbes. The same disappearing
no-show-at-the-border, assigned the task of fixing said problems, shared her
brilliant, far-reaching vision for a “Build Back Better” economic revival.
“Harris’s article
explains ‘how to leverage this moment to ensure that everyone has the
opportunity to pursue the American Dream.’ She wants to do that by passing
trillions more in federal spending under the guise of infrastructure and family
support funding. Why? She says our economy is broken… ‘That the pandemic has
highlighted the importance of our nation’s care infrastructure.’”
Harris cited the multitude of closed small businesses and the nearly 2 million women pushed out of the workforce: “In this moment, more than repair, we must reimagine.” Pay no mind, Harris hopes, to the fact that the largest forces that closed businesses and filled unemployment lines were Democrat-run states imposing business “lockdowns,” public “stay home” orders, schools closed to in-person learning and shut down day care. Simple logic would suggest that reversing all of that would allow most economic victims to return to providing for themselves.
Typical cycle:
government policies deliver failure—solution: more government mandates,
programs and interference. Hopeful promises, followed by borrowed spending and
taxpayer-funded administrators, followed by results-obscuring and blame-shifting
incompetent officials. Rinse (without removing the detritus), repeat.
“Today, our nation must
reimagine our economy, so that every American entrepreneur can launch and grow
an enterprise,” Veep Harris concludes. Without an apparent sense of irony that that
is exactly what occurred in President Donald Trump’s 3 years, Harris skips over
the part where she and her wise-ones-on-high see “opportunity-in-a-crisis” to
implement “equity” through “race and gender” preferential redistribution. Worked
before, right?
There are lessons in
the lower unemployment rates in Republican vs. Democrat states. There are
lessons comparing the U.S. to Sweden’s Covid mortality rate. A chart showed Sweden’s
“flu year” (Oct. 1 to Sept. 30) excess deaths, and Sweden had about 700 per
million above normal, or about 7,000 Covid deaths last September, equivalent to
about 210,000 excess deaths for the U.S.
Actual U.S. Covid
deaths: 213,496 (Sept. 30). The lesson: Sweden shut nothing down but large, crowded
events. Businesses, churches, schools and travel remained open; no mask
mandates for employees or customers. Maximum protection for the elderly and the
vulnerable with education being the main tool. No surge in overdose, domestic violence
or mental/emotional depression-related deaths. No traumatized children deprived
of friends.
The credibility of Incapacitated
Deceiver Joe Biden (Donald Trump was endlessly, falsely smeared for deceiving
his way into office) took a hit when he uttered whoppers at the 100-year
anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre. That’s where white racists murdered
dozens of African-Americans and burned many blocks of what was considered “the
Black Wall Street.” If I could go back in time and put repeating weapons in the
hands of (Republican) Black men and women, just to make it a fair fight, a lot
of (Democrat) racists would’ve died.
Biden preposterously
asserted that “white supremacy” is the “most” dangerous threat to America
today. Is he kidding? Has he no shame? $2 billion in damage from antifa-BLM
riots last year vs. $2 million from the Jan. 6 Capitol violence. Neither should
have happened but there’s no comparison.
He accused Republicans
seeking to secure election integrity of being “simply un-American” and engaging
in a “tireless assault on the right to vote,” an “unprecedented assault on our
democracy.” Bovine excrement.
Dr. Fauci’s, his media
apologists’ and Trump-bashing Democrat hacks’ credibility is shot—for next
week.
