The GOP Debate Proved Trump Is The Only Choice

The GOP Debate Proved Trump Is The Only Choice

On August 23rd, eight Republican candidates for the 2024 Republican Presidential Nomination took the debate stage to discuss various issues, policies, and cultural positions in trying to appeal to voters in the audience and at home. Vivek Ramaswamy stole the night, as his Trumpian positions on topics like foreign policy, economics, culture, and anti-establishment sentiment related to voters like no other candidate during the debate. Meanwhile, neoconservative shills such as Nikki Haley, Chris Christie, and Mike Pence struggled to garner voter attention, as they let a pharmaceutical business mogul with no political experience dominate them from start to finish.

Meanwhile, over on X, former President Donald Trump interviewed with the most influential man in media, Tucker Carlson. The two talked about everything from the alleged murder of Jeffrey Epstein, the Russo-Ukrainian War, federal and judicial weaponization of the government against him, as well as the future of the party both with and without him. Viewers enjoy the banter, too, as it currently garners over 200 million views on the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. If this is correct, it is the most-watched interview of its kind in history and one of the most entertaining of its kind.

In two facets, Trump won the night. First, he countered the debate that was used against him by Fox News by sitting down with a man whom the mainstream media corporation wrongly split with and prompted to create the most popular interview in history. Tucker asked about everything the American voter would want to know about Trump, from his thoughts on his indictments, his opponents, the Biden administration, and the deep state. The former President was charismatic, hilarious, and filled with personality, showing no signs of slowing down going into 2024. All this was done while the debate was going on, and Trump’s influence on the debate stage was sorely missed as he became the main topic of conversation during the night.

On multiple different occasions, Trump became the central topic of the debate. Once, the moderators asked the panel of candidates if they would support Trump if he were the nominee, even with his pending indictments. Most of the panel, besides Christie and Hutchinson, said they would, but only one candidate in Vivek said they would pardon Trump to move the country forward. Pence and Ramaswamy then went back and forth a bit about whether Trump would be convicted, but Pence still refused to say whether or not he would pardon. Even though Trump did not attend or participate in the debate, he holistically controlled the entire event's structure. Vivek complimented Trump by saying he was "the best president of the 21st century" during the event, clamoring to any Trump supporters that had tuned in after the Tucker Carlson interview on X.

Not only was a man in Vivek Ramaswamy copying Trump in style, finesse, and positioning, but he was taking all the brunt of attacks. Instead of a candidate like Ron DeSantis being hammered because he was polling at some of the highest averages on stage, Vivek was targeted because he was taking Trumpian positions in opposition to the rest of the establishment politicians on stage. Vivek was attacked because he wanted to constitute the new wing of the party that Trump helped create. While hardly any of his ideas were original in detail and mostly taken from the former President, it was Vivek versus the rest of the field solely because he held beliefs close to the former President.

In addition, most of the debate centered around Trump. Whether it was nonsense attacks from establishment shills such as Chris Christie and Asa Hutchinson or cowardly snide remarks from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, any viewer could tell that Donald Trump would still be the main topic of the night, even if he were not attending. The America First movement will not choose some Trump knockoff just because they stand out from the rest of the field and are bought and paid for by the establishment when they have the real thing standing there, ready to fight for them again.

Donald Trump still controls the Republican Party and should be the Republican nominee 2024. Last night told that story in detail with its rejection of the old guard, and the GOP is more fired up for Trump than ever.

Preservationist Environmental Policies Fueled Maui Wildfire Mismanagement

As catastrophic wildfires ravaged Maui, preservationist environmentalists didn’t miss an opportunity to politicize the tragedy.

As of this writing, over 100 Hawaiians have tragically lost their lives and many, sadly, are still unaccounted for. Yet, those ceaselessly beating the climate crisis drum have encircled our fellow Americans like vultures to exploit their plight instead of consoling them.

Notable mouthpieces, namely Democratic lawmakers, have used the situation to pressure President Joe Biden to declare a climate emergency once and for all finally.

A climate zealot, Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) told POLITICO, “The devastation in Maui is a clear sign that the president must declare a climate emergency — now. While FEMA is providing resources to the local heroes on the ground fighting for the lives and livelihoods of Hawaiians, the underlying climate-driven conditions of drought, extreme heat, environmental injustice, and non-resilient infrastructure will remain.”

But the publication warned against the declaration, writing, “Declaring a climate emergency could come with political risks for an incumbent president heading into an election year, potentially spurring a spike in already high gas prices. Any executive action Biden takes would likely face legal challenges, including going up against a conservative Supreme Court that has already ruled that the Environmental Protection Agency does not have the broad authority to rein in carbon pollution.”

Is climate a factor that precipitated the deadly Lahaina wildfires? Let’s sift fact from fiction.

First, let’s ask ourselves this: Does climate affect wildfire intensity? Does it actually play a role, or is its role limited or non-existent? The truth lies with the latter.

2018 Institute of Physics (IOP) Science study of key drivers fueling high-severity fires concluded that live fuel contributes the most (53%) — followed by weather (23%) and then climate (14%). A recent University of Montana study also poured cold water on climate change, the primary cause behind wildfires. It is humans–not climate–that ignite the majority of wildfires out West. The study said, “Human ignitions started 76% of the wildfires that destroyed structures, and those fires tended to be in flammable areas where homes, commercial structures and outbuildings are increasingly common.”

Second, the underlying causes behind the Maui wildfires are easily identifiable but overlooked by the region's preservationists.

Downed power lines caused early fires. “Fire weather” was then invited by high winds and topography–two conditions that, sadly, make Hawaii vulnerable to high-intensity fires.

“Hawaii is a fire-prone state mostly due to its topography and high winds. Its risk of fire has increased due to the presence of non-native grasses that have overtaken former agricultural sites,” writes Mandy Gunasekara, director of the Independent Women’s Forum’s Center for Energy and Conservation. “One scientist explained that Maui used to be covered with sugar cane plantations, but these operations ceased with the last one closing in 2016. As a result, unattended sugar cane fields have been overtaken by dry, easily flammable grass—first introduced to the island by settlers in the 1900s.”

Local leaders downplayed reports highlighting Lahaina’s susceptibility to having an “extremely high risk of burning.”

Third, Hawaii’s emphasis on achieving unrealistic 100% renewable (or net-zero) environmental goals clouded prevention measures and equally fueled mismanagement.

Hawaii Electric embraced this misguided policy and it shows. The Wall Street Journal revealed the utility admitted it must prevent power lines from sparking. Still, four years later, it invested “less than $245,000 on wildfire-specific projects on the island, regulatory filings show. It didn’t seek state approval to raise rates to pay for broad wildfire-safety improvements until 2022, and has yet to receive it.”

WSJ also interviewed Doug McLeod, formerly a Maui county energy commissioner, who conceded, “‘We weren’t as focused on these fire risks as we should have been.’”

Additionally, local officials were motivated by preservation - not conservation - after it was revealed releasing water to combat fires strays from the commitment to promoting  “water equity.” Unbelievable.

"My motto is always like, 'Let water connect us and not divide us,'" Kaleo Manuel, formerly first deputy of Hawaii’s Commission on Water Resource Management, said in a November 2022 University of Hawaii livestream. "We can share it, but it requires true conversations about equity."

"We've become used to looking at water as something which we use and not necessarily something that we revere,” he added.

As fires engulfed the region, Manuel reportedly delayed West Maui Land Company’s request for water by five hours. Instead of facing scrutiny for his misdeeds, he was transferred to another position in the agency.

More troubling is the revelation that officials closed down the only road in and out of Lahaina – putting their residents at further risk.

The Maui case study exemplifies the danger of embracing radical environmental policies that falsely elevate nature over people instead of balancing the interests of both.

Preservationist environmentalism, manifested as climate alarmism, is clearly putting people in harm’s way. The people of Maui – and Hawaii – deserve leaders who value their well-being and that of their island – not grand delusions that cost human lives in the name of “equity.”

Former Ukraine Prosecutor Makes Bombshell Claims Against the Biden Crime Family

AP Photo/Julio Cortez

A former Ukrainian prosecutor is making bombshell claims about the Biden crime family, saying President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, were bribed in exchange for forcing him out of office during the Obama Administration.

During an interview with Fox News, former Ukraine prosecutor general Viktor Shokin claimed that he was fired in 2016 for investigating Burisma, the energy firm whose board Hunter Biden served on.

Saying it is his "firm personal conviction" that he was fired because then-Vice President Joe Biden and his corrupt son were bribed. Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko fired Shokin after just one year following Shokin's alleged corruption and intense pressure from the U.S. government led by Biden.

"And the fact that Joe Biden gave away $1 billion in U.S. money in exchange for my dismissal, my firing, isn't that alone a case of corruption?" Shokin said.

At the time, Shokin's office was investigating Mykola Zlochevsky, the owner of natural gas company Burisma Holdings, which paid Hunter Biden $1 million per year to sit on the company's board beginning in April 2014 despite having no prior experience in the job field.

During an event hosted by the Council on Foreign Relations in 2018, Biden was heard boasting about putting pressure on Poroshenko to fire Shokin.

"I'm leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you're not getting the money. Well, son of a bitch. He got fired," Biden reportedly said.

Last month, an FBI informant file revealed that Mykola Zlochevsky, the owner of natural gas company Burisma Holdings, was "coerced" into paying $5 million apiece in bribes to the president and his son in exchange for Shokin's ouster.

"[Poroshenko] understood, and so did Vice President Biden, that had I continued to oversee the Burisma investigation, we would have found the facts about the corrupt activities they were engaging in. That included Hunter Biden, Devon Archer, and others," Shokin continued.

One month before Shokin was fired, his office filed a legal petition to seize Zlochevsky's property, including four homes, two properties, and a Rolls-Royce.

Shokin told Fox News host Brian Kilmeade that Burisma illegally sold, produced, and utilized natural gas supplies.

Internal Obama-Biden Administration emails revealed that officials were shocked that Biden was pushing for Shokin's ouster as a condition of U.S. aid.

"Yikes. I don't recall this coming up in our meeting with them on Tuesday," National Security Council aide Eric Ciamarella reportedly wrote in a Jan. 21, 2016 email.

Hunter Biden's former business partner, Devon Archer, told the House Oversight Committee last month that Burisma hired the president's son so "people would be intimidated to mess them.. legally."

Biden’s Burisma lies; Election integrity, voter ID, honest elections

Calling attention to PINO (President In Name Only) Joe Biden’s lies is like saying he only lies on days ending in “y” as if it matters when or where the complete B.S. rolls off his tongue. How does his duplicitous, even demented mind work that he could bald-faced lie to people in Maui about almost losing his Corvette in a house fire; he labored to elaborate about lightning, heating ducts and a near conflagration—while the official fire department report described a “kitchen fire” that was put out in about 20 minutes.

Someone put out a mocking story about Biden saying he could relate to the fires because he walked on a beach barefoot once and, boy, was it hot. The level of what Jews term chutzpah, or arrogance, which many say is actually narcissism for Joe—having to insert his personal, made-up story into every speech—cannot be simply dismissed as age-related.

There are numerous videos of Biden boasting about educational accomplishments, interactions with various world figures (Chinese leader or Nelson Mandela), and the infamous verbal plagiarism over being the first in his family to go to college, repeating British politician Neal Kinnock’s biographical story as if it were his own. He embarrassingly dropped out of that run for president over the fabulism.

What has never changed is his bombastic self-assuredness, head held high as he lies to his audience, whether to reporters, fellow Senators or, more recently, an audience of dignitaries where he spun his tale of forcing Ukrainian leaders to fire a prosecutor, Viktor Shokin. With flourishes about having to get a result before his flight left, dramatically looking at his watch and invoking President Obama’s approval for the threat to withhold a billion-dollar loan, he capped it off with his now infamous “Son of a bitch, he got fired.”

Set aside the admission-against-interest over the fact that Shokin was investigating corruption involving Burisma, an energy company on which board his son, Hunter, sat—having zero qualifications to hold the position.

For a man that endlessly proclaimed his lack of any involvement, knowledge or benefits from his son’s documented largess derived from that apparently “honorary” board seat, you would think that Biden would be reluctant to tell the world of his personal efforts to cancel an investigation, and fire a prosecutor looking into business corruption in a company paying his son millions.

Now it turns out, based on documents recently revealed, that then-V.P. Joe Biden’s account of things is one of the most self-aggrandizing, truth-twisted-into-untruth, fabrications ever to come out of the mouth of a supposedly legitimate politician. That billion-dollar loan had already been approved by Obama’s people based on the confirmation of honest efforts to root out corruption by none other than that same prosecutor, Viktor Shokin.

See: “NEW: Stunning Docs Show That Then-VP Biden Defied U.S. Gov't https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2023/08/21/new-stunning-docs-show-biden-withholding-ukraine-aid-over-prosecutor-contradicted-us-position-n2162892?utm_source=rsmorningbriefing&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=nl&bcid=333548a2571394d78f5984884e55069e

Joe Biden was using a previously approved transaction to give himself a cudgel to force the firing of Shokin, who was therefore removed from efforts to expose the very corruption that Hunter Biden was part of. America’s news industry would “hold the presses,” change the network or cable lead story, and shout from every microphone about this sort of lying, self-serving, influence-peddling monetary corruption—if it involved a prominent Republican who had been Vice President at the time, and was now the President.

Impeachment would be the least of such a Republican’s worries. It should leave such a stain on Joe Biden’s entire career that he be relegated to infamy as was President Warren Harding over the Tea Pot Dome scandal, which pales in comparison to using an official position, and massive amounts of taxpayer funds, to force a foreign government to take actions that accrued to that “leader’s” financial benefit.

On election integrity and the influence of fraud and ballot cheating in elections, it should be a no-brainer to conclude that the ones screaming and wailing that any measure to force voters to prove their identity as a means to rooting out said fraud—as some sort of “voter suppression”—are the very ones who depend on such schemes to get elected.

When “2000 Mules” came out—and fallacious efforts to “debunk” or disprove the indisputable revelations of “vote harvesting” failed—it was a cold-water wakeup call to anyone who suspected a rigged, even stolen election in 2020. The “mules” delivered more than sufficient “harvested” votes to effect Biden’s win. So many illegal, unconstitutional activities were predicated on COVID being such an emergency and threat to the very lives of people physically standing in line to vote—unsolicited mail-in ballots; expanded lengths of time to vote, collect and count ballots; allow hundreds of millions of “Zuck bucks” to be spent on purely partisan voter outreach benefiting Democrats, and so on.

That was a turning point for the legitimacy of America’s election integrity. It now stands as a truism: With enough paper ballots of questionable relation to actual voters, flooded into the counting centers where observers are restricted from watching questionable activities, it becomes impossible to undo what was fraudulently done, and to ascertain the actual winner.

It is repeated that President Trump and Republicans lost court cases over the 2020 election. That is a half-to-mostly-untrue statement. Knowing courts are reluctant to undo an election result is part of the plan; courts and judges were, first, unwilling to accept that asserted fraud would have changed the outcome. That put efforts to expose the fraud at an insurmountable disadvantage because until the literal tens or hundreds of thousands of ballots were examined and traced back to nonexistent voters—or the paper ballots were examined to find evidence of manipulation—there was never going to be sufficient proof to persuade a judge to hear the arguments.

Look up “Don’t Listen To Dem Hysteria—Everyone Can Agree On Election Integrity” by Jason Snead at https://dailycaller.com/2023/08/21/opinion-dont-listen-to-dem-hysteria-everyone-can-agree-on-election-integrity-jason-snead/ Without mandated voter ID at the point of voting, mandated voter roll cleanups, and sufficient numbers of observers of both parties—each of which is massively popular when polled—there will never be another honest election, with reliable results. That which is not disallowed will be repeated simply because the Democrat winners will never change a system that delivers them endless victories.

The Washington Post Is Clueless

The Washington Post Is Clueless

Armstrong Williams

A front-page story on Aug. 21 in The Washington Post sounds a false alarm: "American democracy is cracking. These forces help explain why," by Dan Balz and Clara Ence Morse.

The analysis is incoherent, betrays constitutional ignorance and misunderstands the purpose of government -- not majority rule but justice secured through checks and balances and separation of powers, enabling every person an opportunity to march to their own drummer, fearless of domestic predation or foreign aggression. The glory of the United States is liberty, not a Leviathan administrative state that dulls ambition and protects corporate behemoths by agency regulations navigable only by $2,000-per-hour elite lawyers.

The United States, of course, is not perfect. Mankind is made of crooked timber. But it is adorned with the optimal form of government to secure justice than any other on the face of the earth. Just ask the millions of immigrants yearly who risk life and limb to enter the United States in search of opportunity and freedom.

The soundtrack of The Washington Post's fault-finding is the Constitution's checks on majority rule. Why these checks should be scorned is difficult to apprehend. Thomas Jefferson observed, "An elective despotism was not the government we fought for; but one which should not only be founded on free principles, but in which the powers of government should be so divided and balanced among several bodies of magistracy, as that no one could transcend their legal limits, without being effectually checked and restrained by the others." James Madison, father of the Constitution, observed in Federalist 55, "Had every Athenian citizen been a Socrates, every Athenian assembly would still have been a mob." Supreme Court Justice Robert Jackson added in West Virginia Board of Education v. Barnette (1943):

"The very purpose of a Bill of Rights was to withdraw certain subjects from the vicissitudes of political controversy, to place them beyond the reach of majorities and officials and to establish them as legal principles to be applied by the courts. One's right to life, liberty, and property, to free speech, a free press, freedom of worship and assembly, and other fundamental rights may not be submitted to vote; they depend on the outcome of no elections."

In any event, The Washington Post's exaltation of majority rule is insincere. It first castigates the White House, Congress and the Supreme Court for not echoing the majority. But then excoriates state legislatures that do! It deplores the fact that in numerous states, the "dominant party has been able to move aggressively to enact its governing priorities." Janus-faced, thy name is The Washington Post.

The newspaper deplores the supermajority required to amend the Constitution to foster stability (two-thirds majorities in the House and three-fourths of the state legislatures). Is The Washington Post afflicted with amnesia? Has it forgotten the 18-year-old voting rights amendment (26th Amendment) ratified on July 1, 1971, within four months of its submission?

Reporters Balz and Morse applaud the easy changeability of state constitutions: "Over the history of the country, state constitutions have been amended thousands of times." But unlike the United States Constitution, no state constitution has served as a template for constitutions fashioned by foreign countries. No state constitution has earned the accolade the U.S. Constitution elicited from British icon and statesman Lord Gladstone: "the most wonderful work ever struck off at a given time by the brain and purpose of man."

Contrary to The Washington Post, the Constitution is our deliverance from the nation's afflictions. Its abandonment has begotten our cosseted multitrillion-dollar military-industrial warfare state that has spiked the national debt past a crushing $32 trillion pursuing fool's errands in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Somalia and Ukraine. It has begotten a surveillance state demolishing the Fourth Amendment right to be let alone from government snooping absent probable cause that crime is afoot. It has begotten a cycloptic administrative state that daily pours forth regulations to stifle individual ingenuity and to shield corporate giants from competition. Congress routinely delegates limitless legislative powers to the president and executive agencies where checks and balances are nonexistent. Executive agencies promulgate an average of 3,000 to 4,500 legislative rules annually -- delegation run riot.

Congress persists in limitless giveaways of its legislative power to escape responsibility for policies that might provoke a primary challenge. A Congress member's heaven is an uncontested election indistinguishable from China or Russia.

The Constitution will be restored only if the American people vote out of office its countless defectors who currently occupy the corridors of power. A beginning would be the restoration of civics as the centerpiece of public education.

THE POLITICS OF WEATHER

THE POLITICS OF WEATHER

BY JOHN HINDERAKER IN CLIMATEFAKE NEWSMEDIA BIAS

The Washington Post can’t understand why Republicans won’t get with the global warming program:

Nearly 150 million Americans were under heat alerts Tuesday, after July marked the planet’s hottest month on record. Devastating downpours dumped two months of rain on Vermont in two days. Smoke from Canadian wildfires choked East Coast skies, causing the worst air quality on record for some locations. And Hawaii is reeling from the deadliest U.S. wildfire in a century.

Yet while there is wide public concern over extreme weather, Americans are deeply divided — along partisan lines — on whether climate change is helping to drive these events, according to a Washington Post-University of Maryland poll.

The survey was conducted from mid- to late July, at the height of some of the hottest days the Earth has experienced in over 100,000 years.

That is a false statement. In fact, the Earth has been warmer than it is now for most of the 12,000 years since the last Ice Age.

But when asked if they think climate change is a major factor in those extremely hot days, 35 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents say it is, compared with 85 percent of those who lean Democratic.

Of course, a fundamental question is whether extreme weather events are in fact increasing. The contribution of human activity to climate, if any, is a matter of debate and opinion. But the actual frequency of extreme weather events is a question of fact.

In 2023, 87 percent of Democratic-leaning adults say extreme weather is becoming more severe, up slightly from 82 percent in 2019. By contrast, 37 percent of Republican-leaning adults say extreme weather is becoming more severe — ticking down from 42 percent in 2019.

The Post thinks that Republicans are troglodytes, somehow willing to buck the opinions of “the vast majority of scientists.” But in fact, the majority of Republicans are correct. Severe weather events have not become more frequent.

We have written about this many times, but to summarize: Hurricanes have not increased in either frequency or magnitude. Tornadoes are down. Acres burned by wildfires are at an all-time low. (Globally, 2022 was the lowest year for wildfires on record.) Neither droughts nor floods have increased. Heat waves not become more common, nor have cold snaps.

The Democratic Party media have been peddling the “extreme weather event” lie for some years now. It is not surprising that, according to the Post’s poll, more than half of Americans, including nearly all Democrats, have been fooled by the hype. What is more noteworthy is that so many know better. And, among Republicans, the number who reject the false “extreme weather event” narrative is growing. This is one more example of the left-wing media–the Washington Post–not being able to dictate to many millions of Americans, who have access to more reliable sources of information.

POLLSTER: TRUMP IS ‘STRONGER TODAY THAN HE’S EVER BEEN’

POLLSTER: TRUMP IS ‘STRONGER TODAY THAN HE’S EVER BEEN’

BY ELIZABETH STAUFFER IN 2024 ELECTIONDONALD TRUMPHILLARY CLINTONJOE BIDENPOLL

In a Tuesday interview with conservative podcaster Charlie Kirk, Big Data pollster Rich Baris claimed that support for former President Donald Trump is stronger today than in either 2016 or 2020. He also believes the 2024 election will be a “total disaster for the Democrats.” From his lips to God’s ears.

Here’s some of what Baris had to say:

It’s just not 2020. It’s not 2016. They are just totally different races and he’s doing so much better with e-groups – which we can get into – than he was in either ’16 or ’20. I’m not a lawyer, but as a pollster, it’s just very clear why they’re trying to do what they are doing to him.

They can’t beat him. When we look back at 2020 and I know a lot of people, especially Trump supporters, think that he won in 2020 and that’s fine. And you know how I feel about that personally as well. But the truth is, he still could have done better with certain groups that would have made it even more difficult for them to pull something like that off.

Look at new voters for instance. Biden won that by 30 points in 2020 and in September of 2021, that turned into a Trump +2. Now in this poll, it is going to be roughly Trump +8. Massive shifts, new generation Xers and millennials that are men  working that are coming into the fold. Non-whites that are coming into the fold. And underclass voters. It’s a total disaster for the Democrats. A total disaster. And we do poll other candidates and I have to make this clear, this is only Donald Trump.

So if you are a crook DA or a crook prosecutor for the Justice Department, you’re looking at this and you’re trying to survive. You don’t want him to come back in, now a target of their prosecutorial misconduct and whatever else it is, and have him clean house. So, if you’re the Biden administration and you’re hiding bribes, you’re going to try to make sure that he cannot get on that ballot. You’re going to try to make sure that he doesn’t have the money to campaign, he’s going to be prosecuted, he’s hurt by political prosecutions and right now, that’s just not happening. … Nothing damages him. Nothing.

Kirk reminded Baris that Trump is currently facing four indictments and asked if it was correct to say that he is more popular now than before the indictments.

Baris replied:

Yeah, that’s correct to say. Favorability is one thing. … There are people that always never liked Donald Trump but would vote for him and flirt with voting for him. And to us, that group is what matters. They are going to dislike both him and Biden, but they trust him to do a good job. Or they see what is going on and think it’s just wrong, Charlie. Just wrong. We don’t do this to people in this country. We don’t beat people in the jury box, we beat them in the ballot box. So he has strength with this group right now even more so than he had with Hillary Clinton.

Despite the frequently repeated talking point that Republicans will support Trump no matter what, but his real challenge lies with opposition from independents, Baris claimed that Trump is leading with independents as well.

Baris went on to say that Americans love an underdog. When the trials begin, he said, “It’s just going to look like the guy is being persecuted and Americans don’t like that.”

Interestingly, he pointed out that Martin Luther King Jr. had been “extremely unpopular until they threw him in prison. … He was grossly unpopular. … The beatings really did it. The most popular photo of him back then was the mugshot.”

“Americans don’t like watching someone beat down by the man,” he said.

Rich Baris is obviously a right-leaning pollster, but there are indications he may be right.

A CNN panel worried out loud last week about Trump’s strength in head-to-head polls against Biden. The two are currently neck and neck in the RealClearPolitics average of polls.

But a look at 2020 presidential polling data shows that Biden maintained an overwhelming lead – in the high single-digits to the low double-digits – over Trump throughout the election cycle.

Although not quite as pronounced as Biden’s lead in 2020, Hillary Clinton also led decisively in the polls over Trump throughout the 2016 election cycle.

Just a little something for us to think about as we wait for tonight’s debate to start!
