The problem with trying to choose the Biggest Idiot of 2024 is that there are so many viable candidates to choose from. America may have fewer jobs, fewer births, fewer places free from crime and perversion, and fewer normal people in positions of authority than ever, but one thing that it appears we will never run short of is idiots. There are a lot of stupid people here. We have a stupid surplus. If stupid was money, we not only not have a national debt, but we could offer a massive cash rebate to hard-working taxpayers. This all-you-can-eat buffet of dumbassary makes deciding who the Biggest Idiot of 2024 a real challenge.

But first, we must define what we mean by “idiot” because many people who achieve stupid results are not necessarily idiots. I mean, you aren’t stupid if you’re trying to sow chaos and wipe out the capacity of the United States to perform adequately as a nation and a culture. You’re just a terrible person. So, there are people who make America a worse place, like Hakeem Jeffries, Rachel Maddow, or Bill Kristol, who are not necessarily stupid. They just suck.

Let’s get one guy out of the running right at the outset. Joe Biden is not the Biggest Idiot of 2024. He is an idiot, or rather was, but now he’s senile. Senile plus pre-existing idiocy takes you to a whole new level. Grandpa Badfinger is America’s Idiot Emeritus. He’s been so stupid for so long that it spoils the competition to consider him again, plus his dementia gives him an unfair leg up on the competition. And, for all his legendary stupidity over the years, what he did in 2024 does not truly qualify as stupid. To the extent he did the things he did on his own – including staying in the race when he was manifestly incompetent, undermining our allies around the globe and making America look weak, wrecking the economy, and pardoning his scumbag son plus a whole bunch of other scumbags – he did not do these things because he was dumb. He did them because he’s a greedy leftist narcissist and a bad person. He intended these results. He wanted to run for reelection. He wanted America to be weak. He wanted the economy to be bad for most Americans because that enriched his friends. He wanted his scuzzy son and the other criminals to get away with it. While he is an idiot, he doesn’t get to win this 2024 race either.

No competition for idiocy would be complete without considering candidates from the United States Senate. It’s hard to believe that any institution that includes noted paste-eating window-licker Mazie Hirono might have other contenders, but Mazie has been pretty quiet this year. James Lankford has not, though he should have been. The allegedly conservative Oklahoma senator bought into one of those comprehensive bipartisan immigration compromise schemes with the Democrats and, as always happens, got rolled faster than a drunk sailor in an alley with dollar bills hanging out of his pocket. His compromise was basically giving Democrats everything they wanted and getting absolutely nothing our side wanted in return. Yet, he decided to promote it aggressively and got all huffy when we pointed out that it would allow millions of illegals into the United States every year. I guess ending illegal immigration by making illegal immigration legal is one way of ending illegal immigration, but it’s not really a great way. His forthright defense of his idiotic plan seemed more about his dented pride when he got pushed back on than any notion that his plan might be a good idea. The Democrats, of course, used the allegedly bipartisan legislation as a suppository against Trump all through the election. Gee thanks, Jim. Great work.

His colleague Joni Ernst made her own play for the brass ring by deciding that it would be a great idea to ostentatiously oppose Pete Hegseth. She really thought she was going to get patted on the head and that her Washington Post–approved Republican maverick act was going to work in 2024 the way it worked in 2004. Trump supporters soon dug into her record, and she was exposed as the squishy RINO she actually is. Besides jumping on board Lankford’s garbage immigration scheme, she had also supported John Cornyn’s bipartisan gun control plan. Suddenly, this backbencher everybody assumed was legit got exposed as the Mitt Romney-esque hack she is. This might buy her a primary challenge, but she wisely pulled a 180 like the Duke brothers in the General Lee whilst being chased by Boss Hogg and proclaimed her MAGAhood.

I could pretty much name any member of the regime media as a potential winner – the quasi-literate Jennifer Rubin certainly comes to mind – but their industry itself is the real contender. It took stupid to a whole new level in 2024. The regime media once had a monopoly on information. It was our cultural gatekeeper, but now we go around their gates, particularly via X. Why did that happen? Because the regime media hacks decided that they wanted the reputation of neutral truth-tellers without actually being neutral or telling the truth. They destroyed their own credibility, and this year they put a final stake in their own collective heart. For the first six months of 2024, they told us how Joe Biden was just as spry and sharp as he could be. And then Joe Biden decided to go do a debate – or at least his handlers decided – and the truth became undeniable. For millions of Americans, this conscious decision by the regime media to abandon the truth, which had been preceded by countless other examples over the previous decade, was it. The media hacks had their credibility. They had their monopoly, and they scuttled it to protect the Democrat narrative. Way to go, geniuses.

Let’s not forget Fani Willis, the pear-shaped Atlanta district attorney who launched a worldwide search for just the right guy to prosecute her bogus charges against Donald Trump and others and found him in her bed. Jack Smith was no genius, either. His legal strategy resulted in one of the bogus federal cases being entirely dismissed and the other being gutted by a Supreme Court decision that his strategic choices made inevitable. Alvin Bragg could also be the Biggest Idiot of 2024. He framed Donald Trump and made Trump even more popular. Then he unsuccessfully prosecuted a normal citizen who resisted one of the subway degenerates that the Soros DAs want to make untouchable, discrediting the soft-on-crime model. There’s going to be a lot of lawfare karma in the next four years.

But, among the mass of morons who made a name for themselves with gross stupidity this year, obviously Kamala Harris was the Biggest Idiot of 2024. We must award honorable mentions for Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama for not moving her out of the way when they were moving Joe Biden out of the way, and there’s an argument that she was at least cunning enough to manage to become the nominee without so much as a primary or any kind of consultation with actual Democrat voters. But one obvious failure takes her from being merely a transcendently bad candidate to being a transcendently bad and stupid candidate.

This was. Of course, her decision to pick Tim Walz over Josh Shapiro. What the hell was she thinking? Of course, anyone with a brain in her skull instead of a Chardonnay–soaked sponge would have picked Josh Shapiro. The guy is articulate, knows how to talk to swing voters, and is only the popular governor of the most important state in the Electoral College. Pennsylvania is the Keystone State for a reason. The Democrat can’t possibly win without winning PA, but no, she was smarter than that. Instead, she would choose the valor-stealing weirdo theater kid from Minnesota, which is utterly electorally irrelevant. If her selection criterion was finding someone who could not outshine her, at least give her some credit for the miracle of identifying someone less impressive than herself.

This one move alone, even without being combined with her amazing series of gaffes and incomprehensible campaign decisions that resulted in her squandering well over $1 billion, it’s clear that Kamala Harris was the Biggest Idiot of 2024. She deserves our congratulations because this year’s competition was particularly stiff. Thanks to them, you aspiring idiots out there have got one heck of a bar to limbo under in 2025.

Gun grabbers are an entertaining bunch, much to our benefit here at Twitchy, and this post by the leader of anti-gun lobbying group Brady United is no exception.

This is true, at least. We're used to them lying in order to stoke the flames of fear in their lemming followers. What's fun about this, however, is that this is based on known gun sales recorded by licensed firearm sellers. The number is definitely higher than they realize.

OOF. And from her own organization, too.

As the saying goes (and a study of incarcerated criminals proved), an armed society is a polite society.

The U.S. sees roughly forty-thousand gun deaths per year (it spiked to forty-five thousand in 2020), the majority of which are suicides, which is not a gun issue. The number of actual murders committed with a gun, even when factoring in mass public shootings, is shockingly low considering the sheer number of guns in this country. Where is this gun violence epidemic that we're constantly inundated with in the leftist media and government?

The issue of whether a woman can win the U.S. presidency has been beaten to death. But Democrats, who have run two women in the last three presidential elections, both of whom lost, can't seem to drop it.

It's so much easier to blame "sexism" for the losses of Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris than toxic policies and critical errors made during the campaign. Blaming "sexism" (the voters) for the loss rather than the campaign ("us") takes the burden of losing from the Democratic leadership and places it on the backs of ordinary people.

Two female writers at the New York Times took a stab at explaining why women can't win the presidency. Lisa Lerer and Jess Bidgood went over familiar ground only to arrive at a familiar conclusion.

Of course a woman can win the presidency, you dummies. She just has to be a Republican.

Their theory is that because conservatives don't like women candidates and are biased against them, only a Republican woman can win the White House.

I guess the idea is that the anti-woman voter will choose party loyalty over their sexist, misogynistic attitudes.

Besides being incredibly insulting, it's idiotic. A Republican woman could be the first female president because she's far more likely to favor common sense and realistic policies rather than gender-bending, crackpot diversity/equity/inclusion/identity politics and treat voters like adults.

It's going to be an uphill climb for Democratic women to win the presidency if they have to kowtow to every race, gender, and identity manufactured by their party.

Then you have delusional nutcases like this woman labor leader:

“People feel pretty stung by what happened,” said Liz Shuler, the first woman elected to lead the A.F.L.-C.I.O. Kamala "totally over-performed and yet fell short. So it does feel like that sucker punch of, like, ‘Wow, even when you do everything right, that glass ceiling is still elusive.’”

Kamala Harris did not, in any way, "overperform." That's laughable. She made error after error, starting with choosing America's nightmare dad, Tim Walz, for her vice presidential nominee.

She raised more than a billion dollars and managed to spend all of it in 107 days, ending up $20 million in the hole.

She never shored up her "blue wall" in the Midwest and lost every single swing state. She might have "overperformed" if a pie-eyed prostitute had run for president, but otherwise, nada.

As they process the second defeat of a female nominee, Democrats are divided over the question of how much Ms. Harris’s gender actually contributed to her loss, making it hard to divine what exactly that could mean for their party in 2028. Two weeks before Election Day, Ms. Harris openly dismissed concerns that sexism could hurt her chances, saying in an interview with NBC News that the country was “absolutely” ready to elect a female president.
She rarely mentioned her gender or her race during her brief campaign, a choice that reflected both her personal approach to barrier-breaking opportunities and the long-running Democratic anxieties about female nominees.

The entire "America hates women candidates for president" theme is based on the unknowable notion that deep down inside American voters lurks a dark stain on our soul. It's the original sin of sexism, and it manifests itself as opposition to accepting women in positions of power.

The "proof" for this is that no American woman has ever been elected president. Ergo, Americans are misogynistic woman-haters.

It's a ludicrous analysis based on faulty logic and political wishful thinking.

It's an analysis not based on the facts. There are 24 women serving in the U.S. Senate, 127 women serving in the U.S. House, and four delegates representing U.S. territories. Should there be more? Getting elected to the Senate or Congress is very hard. More and more women are succeeding on their own merits, not because they are women or despite being women. They get elected because of superior ideas and the ability to raise tons of money.

Kamala Harris lost because she ran an incompetent campaign, spouted toxic ideas that incompetent aides told her would get her elected, approved a defective electoral strategy, and cackled out incomprehensible word salads that even a desperately pliant media couldn't fix.

Otherwise, the reason she lost was because of her gender. Right.

Yes, Trump won the election. Yes, the great societal pendulum is swinging back toward sanity. But the left hasn’t stopped pushing insanity on the larger society, as a recent case on the Left Coast indicates.

Tremaine "Tremayne" Deon Carroll is 52 years old. He is facing two charges of rape. That might give you the idea that we are talking about a male, but Carroll is accused of committing these crimes while doing time in Central California Women's Facility in Chowchilla. He was being held there in the first place because he has successfully convinced authorities that he is a woman, despite his mustache and close-cropped goatee. And now, adding an absurd insult to an absurd injury, a judge has ordered Carroll’s victims to refer to him as “she” while they are testifying against him.

Fresno’s KFSN reported Saturday that an unnamed “Madera County judge” has ruled that Carroll “must be referred to with she/her pronouns because Carroll identifies as a woman.” This is crossing the line from absurdity into outrage, and it was left to Madera County District Attorney Sally Moreno to explain the obvious: "This is a person who is not a woman in any sense of the word."

Moreno noted that "after his first cellmate became pregnant and was moved to Los Angeles, two other cellmates of his had complained that he had raped them, so we have filed rape charges against this inmate." Yes, it has come to this: now, in the hyper-woke Golden State, a man who is facing several rape charges has to be referred to as a woman. The all-encompassing state will force you to affirm that two plus two equals five, George Orwell predicted, and here we are.

"This is a particular issue in this case,” Moreno continued, doggedly clinging to sanity, “because it's confusing to the jury. In California, rape is a crime that has to be accomplished by a man.” Hey, that may even be true outside of California.

As if Moreno’s focus on sanity weren’t enough, Supervising Deputy District Attorney Eric Dutemple had more, observing: "It’s just absolutely insane that a victim would have to get on the stand and police their pronoun usage when trying to recite one of the scariest times of their lives.”

Carroll got his big opportunity to get sent to a women’s prison because of California’s appalling Senate Bill 132, The Transgender Respect, Agency and Dignity Act, which became law in the Land of Fruits and Nuts in 2021. It allows any man to say that he is a woman, and hey, presto, he gets to do his time in a women’s prison. It’s as easy as that. Moreno explains: "There's no psychological evaluation that needs to be done. This person does not need to be on cross gender hormones, they don't need to be signed up for transgender surgery, they don't need to be a psychological evaluation regarding gender confusion, the mere statement is enough."

Tremaine Carroll is Exhibit A in the case that this policy is quite spectacularly insane and that this law should be repealed. After his spree in the women’s prison, California officials were momentarily restored to being of sound mind, and he was relocated to a men’s prison, but now the judge’s demand that he be referred to as if he were a woman reinforces the state’s reputation as a bastion of madness and socialism from which all free people who can still manage rational thought should flee.

And wait, it gets worse. Amie Ichikawa of Women II Women, an organization that states that its goal is to “empower incarcerated women to stand up for themselves and become actively involved in campaigning for their own freedom,” points out that Carroll never claimed to be a woman until after the passage of Senate Bill 132, which he obviously took as his ticket into a women’s prison.

Ichikawa explained: "This is somebody that I did keep a close eye on because of their history, their background, their habitual manipulation, frivolous lawsuit after frivolous lawsuit, constantly filing complaints against everyone. I knew this was going to be an issue. The committee that's reviewing these requests to transfer can't use someone's criminal history, physical attributes, sexual orientation, anything like that. Anything that you would think would be a factor that should be taken into consideration before transferring someone to a women's prison is not allowed and deemed discriminatory."

Don’t believe your lyin’ eyes, believe a career felon no matter what evidence there may be to contradict his claims. It’s the law in the state of California. Trump has said that he will act against the spread of transgender madness, but he can’t do anything about state laws. Are there enough sane human beings left in California to end this insanity? It’s doubtful, but maybe the eye-popping ridiculousness of this latest ruling in the Tremaine Carroll case will jolt even some leftists awake.
