Good news: The nature of the riots this election year suggest the leftist rioters are losing steam

Don't tread on me!

Amid the illegal protests by pro-Hamas anti-Semitic new Nazis on college campuses, a wider looks suggests some encouraging trends, though hard to spot amid the chaos promoted by these genocidal rioters, most of whom are students but led it appears by many outside agitators.

There is no question these college rioters are causing havoc as they spread fear and hatred on numerous college campuses, including ColumbiaHarvardMITPrincetonNYUCal Poly Humboldt, USC, and UT-Austin, to name jsut a few.

In every case the protesters arrived with tents and a definitive plan to illegally occupy part of the campus, using almost identical tactics of the Occupy Wall Street crowd in 2011. Very clearly they wanted to establish themselves in a prominent position on each campus, where they could daily interfere with campus life while harassing anyone they saw as either Jewish or a potential enemy. Their tactics also mimicked the actions of the 2020 BLM and Antifa rioters, not only acting to keep out Jewish students from campuses, but working together violently to exclude anyone they wanted excluded. Reporters were routinely blocked with banners, umbrellas, and their bodies. In at least one case these terrorists even attacked one reporter, stabbing her in the eye with the pole of a Palestinian flag.

There is also no question that these riots have the same ulterior motives that existed in 2020, to disrupt the upcoming November election so that the Democrats could win. Many of the 2020 riots were specifically aimed at Trump election rallies, often causing their cancellation. The riots also provided Democratic Party officials in many key swing states reasons to justify the arbitrary changing of election laws — done also in conjuntion with the COVID panic — to allow the illegal use of very insecure ballot measures, such as unsupervised drop boxes and the misuse of mail-in ballots.

The differences today from 2020 and 2011 however are quite significant, and suggest these violent tactics are no longer working, that the country is beginning to push back hard against such insurrectionist behavior.

The pushback

The first difference is the most obvious. In 2011 and 2020, the rioters and looters and illegal tent cities were generaly allowed to do whatever they wanted, with little push back from the authorities. Few rioters or looters were arrested. Almost no illegal tent cities were removed. The authorities simply let these terrorists have their tantrum, simply waiting it out.

Now however college officials and state governments have been much more aggressive in arresting and punishing these pro-Hamas terrorists. Many have been arrested. Many of the occupations have been shut down.

We should not be deceived into thinking this aggressive action is because college authorities disagree with these protesters. On the contrary, most of the administrators at these formerly elite universities are radical leftists and entirely pro-Hamas themselves, and are only taking action now because these protests are making their schools look very bad while revealing the anti-Semitic nature of these people. You can see this by the general weak effort of these officials to stop the protests, even when they do pushback.

Nonetheless the pushback is happening, which was entirely lacking in 2011 and 2020. In colleges in states like Texas and Florida, the government has not allowed university officials to decide what to do. In these states the government has moved in and shut these rioters down entirely.

The localized nature of the Hamas protests

This difference might be the most important of all. In 2011 and 2020, the riots were widespread in almost all urban areas, lasting weeks and largely destroying whole blocks of businesses and homes. The protests and occupations lasted anywhere from weeks to months to even a year, during which it was entirely unsafe to go into these inner city neighborhoods, as the rioters had taken over completely, and were allowed free reign to attack anyone they deemed an invader to their occupied territory.

That today’s protest riots have been almost exclusively limited to college campuses is another good sign. The number of rioters appears down, and they also don’t seem to have the resources necessary to occupy and loot many inner cities. Instead, they are mostly targeting these leftist college campuses, where they know they are generally supported and have had up until now been greeted by a friendly supportive atmosphere.

To their surprise however that atmosphere has not been as supportive as expected.

The ugly nature of the cause

A Nazi youth rally, little different than today's pro-Hamas demonstrations
A 1930s Nazi youth rally, little different than
today’s pro-Hamas demonstrations

Finally, the ineffectiveness and much more limited nature of the protests now could be attributed to a recognition that the goals now are obviously very ugly, bigoted, and have no redeeming purpose. In 2020 many of the riots were instigated by mindless mobs reacting emotionally to what they perceived as the injustice of George Floyd’s death. Their understanding of what happened might have been wrong (he was not killed by the policeman but by an overdose of drugs), but the sense of injustice seemed real, and therefore to some justified the violent response.

Today’s protesters are protesting in favor of a terrorist organization, Hamas, that gleefully raped, tortured, and then murdered more than a thousand men, women, and children on October 7th. It is also an organization that proudly wants to do the same first to every Jew living in Israel, then spread that genocide across the whole globe. The protesters themselves have proudly declared their support for such genocide, repeatedly calling for the murder of Jews while declaring “We are Hamas,” “We’re all Hamas, pig!” and “Long live Hamas!”

Even the most radical leftists find these goals quite distasteful. The public meanwhile is horrified. The goals of these protests is ugly and evil on its face, and it also stains the entire left with a stink that cannot be easily washed away.

Thus, there is no groundswell of support, demanding action. Instead the public is not making any excuses for these riots, and are in fact opposing them with great force.

These signs provide us a hint that maybe our society is finally begin to come to its senses, and is no longer willing to bow meekly to every violent protest. Instead, it is beginning to demand that people act more civilized, and is more determined to shut down barbarism when it rears its ugly head.

We can only hope.

Bill Barr Scoffs at Suggestions Trump Wants to Kill His Enemies, Says Press Takes Him 'Too Literally'

Bill Barr Scoffs at Suggestions Trump Wants to Kill His Enemies, Says Press Takes Him 'Too Literally'

Matt McClain/The Washington Post via AP, Pool

Bill Barr, who served as attorney general under Donald Trump, laughed off suggestions from the biased media that the former president actually wants to have his political enemies murdered in cold blood.

Although Barr and Trump's relationship soured after the former AG refused to back some of the 45th president's arguments that the 2020 election was stolen from him, Barr surprised some when he endorsed Trump in the '24 race.

Barr continued to defend the former president Thursday when he appeared on CNN's "The Source" with host Kaitlan Collins and said that the biased press takes Trump "too literally" when he uses obviously sarcastic rhetoric and that they often try to drum up controversy when there is none there. Actually, that last part about drumming up controversy is my take, but it's the natural conclusion from Barr's remarks.

"Journalists" took the completely normal use of the word "bloodbath" and turned it into a national outcry, yet were dead silent when crazed Democrats accused Biden's chief political rival of wanting to execute people.

In his conversation with Collins, Barr said Trump was prone to saying outlandish things, but in the end, he simply doesn't "think the threat is there."

Watch (and yes, I know that the CNN chyron unsurprisingly obsesses over other matters):

Here's how it went down, much to the chagrin of the CNN anchor who obviously wanted different answers:

COLLINS: …Alyssa Farah Griffin, who was Trump’s communications director [and who’s now on The View, which tells you all you need to know about her], posted yesterday [Thursday] and said that you were present at a moment when Trump suggested executing the person who leaked information that he went to the White House bunker when those George Floyd protests were happening outside the White House. Do you remember that?

BARR: I remember him being very mad about that. I actually don't remember him saying “executing,” but you know, I wouldn't dispute it… I mean, the president would lose his temper and say things like that. I doubt he would have [laughs] actually carried it out.

COLLINS [aghast]: But… he would say that on other occasions?

You can almost feel Collins' discomfort and annoyance; one can imagine her thinking, "C'mon man! Give me the answer that I want so I can make a viral tweet! Say he wants to kill people, SAY IT!

But he wasn't buying what she was selling:

BARR: The president, you know, the president had a… I think people sometimes took him too literally and, you know, he would say things like similar to that on occasion to blow off steam. But I wouldn't take him literally every time he did it.

COLLINS: Why not?

BARR: Because at the end of the day, it wouldn't be carried out and you could talk sense into him.

COLLINS [incredulous]But just because it's not carried out and you could talk sense into him, doesn’t that still mean that the threat is there?

Collins should probably have given up there and then, but I guess she thought she was smart enough to trip him up. She was wrong:

BARR: No. I mean, I think—I don't think the threat is there. The thing that I worry about President Trump is not that he's going to become an autocrat and do those kinds of things.

COLLINS:
Why not?

BARR: Because I don't think he would, at the end of the day.

COLLINS [clearly getting annoyed that he’s refusing to play her game]: What's the basis for that, that, that understanding that you have? Is it just your own hunch?

BARR: That's my feeling, having worked for him and seen him in action.  I don't think he would actually go and kill political rivals and things like that.

Barr can be somewhat of a conundrum; he's said things both roundly critical of Trump yet, as noted, recently endorsed him for the presidency anyway. In this interview, however, he's 100 percent correct that Trump's political opponents revel in trying to turn almost anything the former president says into some over-hyped controversy. What makes it more aggravating is that Biden routinely "jokes" about wanting to punch Trump—which would be an obvious act of political violence—yet the press just ignores it.

Eat crow, Kaitlan Collins, and look for another story because this dog isn't hunting.

Oh Look, Another Terrible Inflation Report

Oh Look, Another Terrible Inflation Report

AP Photo/Alex Brandon

On the heels of this week's mess of a first quarter GDP report that showed the economy's growth slowing more than expected to just +1.6 percent and costs surging more than expected, another inflation report released Friday showed hotter-than-expected price increases in March.

Known as the Federal Reserve's "preferred" gauge for inflation, the personal consumer expenditures (PCE) price index increased 0.3 percent in March for an annual advance of 2.7 percent, more than economists expected. Core PCE inflation — excluding food and energy — rose the same 0.3 percent in March for a 12-month increase of 2.8 percent.

Notably, both annualized core and headline PCE numbers remain above the Fed's target of just 2.0 percent inflation.

The higher-than-anticipated inflation in March came from monthly increases in services (+0.4 percent), goods (+0.1 percent), and energy (+1.2 percent). Since this time last year, services are 4.0 percent more expensive, food costs increased 1.5 percent, and energy bills are 2.6 percent higher, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA).

The bad economic news is no surprise, given the previous three-plus years of President Joe Biden's "build back better"-turned-"Bidenomics" policies put the U.S. into a tailspin putting the highest inflation in 40 years together with the highest interest rates since early 2001 and looming tax hikes to pay for the president's spending binge.

House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO) noted Friday that Biden's "recipe of outlandish spending and higher taxes is robbing the American people and hurting the economy."

"The soaring cost of gas and groceries keeps killing family budgets — leaving Americans struggling to either pay rent or buy a house," Smith emphasized in a statement provided to Townhall. "With prices continuing to rise and the Federal Reserve likely to keep interest rates at the highest levels in over 20 years, the American Dream is slipping out of reach for more families."

Smith urged his fellow lawmakers to "build on the success of the Trump tax cuts" by "passing the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act to secure immediate relief" while preparing to "fight back against President Biden's proposed $7 trillion tax hike," another policy that "would only further damage the economy and harm working families."

Alfredo Ortiz, CEO of Job Creators Network, told Townhall that blame for still-rising inflation belongs with the "Democrats' unwillingness to accept sensible government spending measures."

"Reckless" spending by Democrats is "fueling inflation's fire and devaluing the dollar," Ortiz explained. "As a result, the Federal Reserve can't go ahead with planned interest rate cuts needed by small businesses to end the credit crunch. Combined with Thursday's GDP report, these inflation numbers show the economy is reentering stagflation," he warned.

"The only way to grow the economy and tame inflation for good is for voters to replace spendthrift Democrats with sensible conservatives on Election Day," Ortiz admonished.

These Protests are the Result of Bad Parenting and an Education System Churning Out Morons

These Protests are the Result of Bad Parenting and an Education System Churning Out Morons

Sometimes, good parents raise bad kids. It is possible to do everything right and still churn out a real piece of post-digested food. It happens. It just doesn’t happen very often, which is why it’s pretty easy to look at the mutant mob and professional protester class currently staging mini-Beer Hall Putschs they hope will weave together into a one, large real opportunity for them to murder as many white people, normal people, straight people, non-obedient people and especially Jews as possible. Fascists always have a real problem with Jews.

So, where did all these bi-pedal piles of garbage on college campuses in blue states across the country come from? It’s really easy to just say “bad parents,” and it’s also true – most of their parents truly suck. They’re probably “down” with the cause, proud of their little Goebbels wannabes and aspiring Himmlers; happy to drop more than the average American annual salary on the further indoctrination of their drone. But these goose-stepping goon squad members wouldn’t be able to exist without an education system that keeps them ignorant of history and unable to think for themselves.

Progressivism – be it in the form of communism, socialism or fascism – requires an unquestioning, obedient population to thrive. Luckily, it is human nature to question things, either in a quest for knowledge or simple curiosity. That means most people’s minds are not fertile ground for stupidity. But some people’s heads are naturally full of fertilizer and not much else – a vacuum of intelligence in which these poisonous ideas take root and flourish.

It is not surprising that an American student would have no idea what the story and truth behind “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” is. Honestly, it’s not really an issue on this half of the planet. What is surprising, and a testament to just how effective the Democratic Party has been in indoctrinating kids, is how even after these protesters learn that it is a literal call for genocide against Jews created by terrorists and terrorist sympathizers, these morons still chant it.

At no point in the process, no matter the similarities between what the Nazis did and what these new Nazis are doing, does it occur to any of them that they are actually what they claim to hate.

You have to be a special kind of stupid to miss it, or woefully educated by a system no longer teaching kids to how to think, just to conform.

This is what happens when the walls of your public schools are littered with flags and pictures dedicated to the sex life of the purple-haired, pierced, gender-dysphoric lesbian literature major from Smith College or frustrated theater nerd who studied ethnic dance at Brown who is now teaching 2nd graders how basic addition and subtraction are colonizing ideals created to advance both the patriarchy and white supremacy.

But bad school systems can only exist if bad parents allow them to. I’m not talking about in major Democrat-controlled cities where no one in the political class gives a single damn about who schools are graduating kids who can’t read, they aren’t going to college at a high enough rate.

I’m talking about the well-to-do suburban, chardonnay-sipping mom with the “ready to virtue-signal” excitement should (fingers crossed) at least one of their kids turn out to be “trans.” The parents who order several copies of the latest children’s book published by NAMBLA because it might get “banned” by an elementary school, but would burn down the place should a kid bring in a Bible. They elect like-minded people to the school board, then stop paying attention or caring about failure to teach or anything except the fundraiser to collect money to help all the 22-year-old illiterate in their own language and unable to speak English illegal alien “10th graders” on their “sexual assault in every district in the state” tour, while making sure to set aside a little extra for some touch-up work on their face and neck tattoos.

These are people who are such stereotypes that if they weren’t real and you wrote fiction about them it would be considered some kind of hate crime.

They suck as parents, belching out entitled brats with walls of participation ribbons and zero accomplishments. Arrogant and ignorant, born on 3rd base while demanding high-fives from everyone like they’d hit a triple. Either spanked too much or not enough, their kids inflict all the anger and confusion that goes with never coming within a country mile of receiving the approval of their pharmaceutically numbed birthing persons.

Now they’re on campus, calling for the extermination of everyone who won’t bow down to them while their parents act with all the concern a tornado has for the destruction in its wake.

Parents who moved to a status city with highly ranked schools never bothered to care about what the schools were teaching or whether or not their kids were learning. Now they’re in the quad, picking up where Hitler left off. These reliable Democratic Party voters are everything wrong with the country.

I’d say them and Joe Biden are everything wrong with the country, but Joe Biden is one of them, no need to separate. His kids went the drug abuse route rather than activism, but the starting line was the same. The upbringing was the same.

What we’re watching now is the end result of a failed public education system more interested in making sure students can name more pronouns than states or presidents; they can count in microaggressions but can’t do math. None of which is by accident – an educated population able to think for itself would never tolerate what Democrats do or vote for them to do it in the first place.

Forget the Matchup Polls. This Number Is What Should Terrify Team Biden.

Forget the Matchup Polls. This Number Is What Should Terrify Team Biden.

When it comes to elections, polls are the most common tools we have to assess the state of the race, and there is no shortage of polls to look at and pick apart. National polls, state polls, direction-of-the-country polls, generic ballot polls, etc., etc. Based on the bulk of national and battleground state polls, it's easy to see why Trump is clearly favored to win the 2024 election.

But what if those polls aren't the best indicator? Is there something better that is far more informative than matchup polls? As Paul Bedard at the Washington Examiner notes, "Ever since Dwight D. Eisenhower’s reelection in 1956, the pros have looked to approval ratings as the key to an incumbent’s chances."

And how do the numbers look for Joe Biden? Really bad.

"While he is even or leading former President Donald Trump in some racehorse polls, Biden’s approval rating is about 10 points under the previous record low of a winning incumbent," Bedard writes. "That was former President George W. Bush, who beat then-Sen. John Kerry, despite having a 48% approval rating."

In a new Hill/DDHQ survey, just 38.6% approve of Biden, 58.1% don’t. In the Gallup tracking poll, Biden is at 40% approval.

Pollsters such as Gallup have said that an approval of 50% or higher is the key to reelection. Drop below, and chances shrink to just 50-50.

Bush had the lowest approval rating in decades, but a recent Gallup analysis noted that “he registered multiple 50% readings earlier in the month and had a 51% approval rating among likely voters in that final survey.” Biden hasn’t seen 50% since late July 2021.

The closest presidential approval rating of an incumbent to Biden today is former President Jimmy Carter, who had a 37% approval rating entering the election. He lost in a historic landslide to former President Ronald Reagan.

“Biden’s reelection chances do not look very favorable in early 2024," Gallup noted back in February. "His job approval rating is lower than all recent incumbents at the same point, including those who ultimately lost the election, and key national mood indicators are more in line with those for past losers than winners."

If Biden's reelection chances hinge on his ability to pull off a comeback and get back over 50% approval, then he'd have to pull off the greatest comeback in history. Does anyone believe he can actually do that? This week, we learned that economic growth slowed in the first quarter of 2024 while inflation grew, sparking concerns of stagflation and possibly a recession. Meanwhile, concerns about Biden's advanced age and cognitive health persist. His recent reading of a stage direction during speech certainly didn't help. Meanwhile, Biden is struggling with the Israel-Hamas situation, as the antisemitic wing of his party has forced him to take a more aggressive approach to Israel publicly, which may be backfiring.

Pretty much the only thing that helps Biden is that voters don't seem to like Donald Trump either. However, the juxtaposition of their two terms and the observable contrast between the two clearly benefits Trump, as voters remember that things were significantly better on Trump's watch.
