Tim Walz Is Anything But ‘Minnesota Nice’

Tim Walz Is Anything But ‘Minnesota Nice’

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, now Kamala Harris’ running mate, is a harmless, folksy midwestern fella — according to breathless mainstream media coverage. To millions of Minnesotans, however, Gov. Walz and his alleged normal-guy leadership has been a big government disaster.

Beyond growing questions about Walz’s military record — which he should answer with definitive proof or apologize for such disqualifying lies — the governor of the North Star State (frozen homeland of this writer) has a radical record he needs to explain. Given his running mate’s decision to hide from reporters and the media apart from her scripted remarks, Walz is unlikely to explain his radical positions that prove he’s anything but “Minnesota Nice.”

It would, for example, be useful to hear Walz explain why he insisted President Joe Biden is “fit for office” even after bombing the first presidential debate against Trump. Does Walz think Biden did the wrong thing by dropping out and he shouldn’t be Biden’s VP’s VP?

As governor, Walz called for the Minnesota legislature to levy as much as a 70 percent increase to the state’s gas tax while supporting congressional Democrats’ spending binge that drove inflation upward and forced his state’s residents to pay an average of $1,200 more per month since 2021 compared to the Trump years. Does he regret the pain his running mate and her boss caused Minnesotans?

While running for governor, Walz said he wanted to make Minnesota a sanctuary state in order to protect illegal aliens from the consequences of their unlawful entry. Does he still support such protections for illegal aliens? Does Walz still believe a physical barrier on the border is “ridiculous,” as he said while in Congress?

Since taking office, Walz has given state IDs to illegal aliens, granted them in-state tuition at public institutions, and used tax revenue from hard-working Minnesotans to cover costs incurred by low-income illegal aliens. Will he seek to do the same at the federal level?

Reinforcing his intention to turn Minnesota into “Cold California,” Walz took a page from Gavin Newsom’s book and sought to enact radical — and expensive — energy policies and ludicrous emissions regulations for vehicles and equipment that would further raise costs for Minnesotans. Will punishing Americans also be his policy agenda as VP?

Walz was MIA during the riots in and around the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul in 2020, eventually pledging to restore law and order only to allow the Marxist BLM rioters to lay siege to more of the city night after night. Would the entire country be left to fend for itself against lawless rioters if unrest occurs under a Harris-Walz administration? The two make a perfect pair: Walz did nothing while Minnesota homes, police stations, and businesses burned and then Kamala sought to help bail out the few criminals who were rounded up.

Even after the prominent citywide chaos died down, Walz has failed to uphold law and order in Minnesota. Murders statewide are up more than 70 percent since Walz took office, aggravated assaults have increased by nearly 50 percent, and motor vehicle theft has risen 55 percent. Does he accept responsibility for his state becoming more dangerous on his watch?

Women and girls in Minnesota are at increased risk for other reasons, thanks to Walz. He declared his state a “sanctuary” for children to receive irreversible hormone and puberty-blocking “treatment” and be surgically mutilated as well as advocated for biological men to play in women’s sports. Does he regret these radical policies as other governments ban such procedures and opportunities for female athletes continue to be stripped away? His priorities also included requiring menstrual products in boys’ bathrooms, another radical policy from “Tampon Tim.”

His administration also levied strict COVID policies, then was slow to lift them or prevent entities from levying more draconian measures. Walz even set up a hotline for Minnesotans to snitch on their neighbors if they dared to violate the state’s COVID edicts.

Walz recently said on a “White Dudes for Harris” call that “one person’s socialism is another person’s neighborliness.” I guess snitching on your neighbor for disobeying the state is pretty on-brand, then.

Walz’s COVID policies are also the reason, in the final weeks of my grandfather’s legendary life, I had to say goodbye to my hero through a window.

Regardless of vaccine status or testing, I wasn’t allowed into my grandfather’s care facility. So I parked myself in a folding chair outside his window in December bundled up in all the layers I could find while he sat inside with blankets piled on top of him to stave off the cold air coming through the window cracked just enough so I could talk to him.

The last time I saw him alive during that visit back home in Minnesota, we said goodbye with our hands up against opposite sides of the screen. That’s all I got. The next time I saw my grandfather I was delivering his eulogy, unsure if I was more mad that we didn’t get a proper goodbye or sad for the other Minnesotans who never got to bid farewell to loved ones in person at all thanks to Walz’s policies.

Tim Walz might be what coastal elitists think a Minnesota dad is, but he’s no fatherly provider or protector. He’s a radical leftist who tried and too times succeeded at importing California-style lunacy. Along with it came all the consequences that have sent Californians fleeing for safer, more affordable, and less insane states.

The reality is the Harris-Walz ticket is one of the most radically leftist in history. From national security and the border to absurd gender policies and pointless climate virtue signaling to big government micromanaging of people’s lives, these are two peas in a pod: a San Francisco leftist and the governor who dreamed of turning the Land of 10,000 Lakes into a socialist dystopia.
