Sen. Ted Cruz predicts gun control backlash, Republican resurgence in 2014
Today on The Laura Ingraham Show, newly elected Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) predicted that President Obama's gun control efforts would backfire, leading to a conservative resurgence in the Senate.
Obama, Cruz argued, has "drunk the Kool-Aid. He is feeling, right now, high on his own power."
Cruz anticipated that Obama would pay “a serious political price... [that's] going to manifest in Senate races in 2014.”
“I'll make a prediction,” Cruz said, “I think 2014 is going to be a very, very strong year for conservatives. I think we have a real possibility of picking up a majority of the Senate”
“The next two years, the president is going to continue doing what he's doing now, which is overreaching and really believing that this country has become far left. And that is not this country.”
Cruz also denied the sentiment that the Tea Party was finished on a national stage. “A lot of folks in the media... have used [the 2012 election] to write an obituary on the Tea Party. That's a story that's been written more than once. As Mark Twain famously put it, I think rumors of the Tea Party’s death are greatly exaggerated.”
