Union Goons Turn Violent in Michigan [Updated: Obama Backs Thugs]

Union Goons Turn Violent in Michigan [Updated: Obama Backs Thugs]

by John Hinderaker in Union Thuggery

Captured on video: Steven Crowder is assaulted by union thugs in Michigan. It will be interesting to see whether these goons are criminally prosecuted:

Earlier today, a Democratic legislator in Michigan promised that there would be “blood” if workers aren’t forced to join unions (and thereby pay involuntary tribute to the Democratic Party) against their will. At this point, it is difficult to see any justification for the continued existence of unions. They have devastated Michigan’s economy and more or less destroyed the city of Detroit. At the very least, they should not receive favored treatment under the antitrust laws, and when they function as nothing but a criminal conspiracy, they should be prosecuted as such.
UPDATE: Well, that was quick. The goon who attacked Crowder has been identified as Tony Cummings [UPDATE: The name is now being read as Tony Camargo.] of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. His name was on his jacket. Heh. Now let’s hope the law enforcement authorities throw the book at him.
FURTHER UPDATE: President Obama refuses to condemn the union violence in Michigan:
White House spokesman Jay Carney declined to condemn the increasing violence and threats by union members in Michigan, merely telling reporters Tuesday that “the president believes in debate that’s civil.”
So, is punching someone who asks why you oppose right to work civil? That’s too tough a question for the president to answer. Remember the good old days when Sarah Palin’s producing a flyer that had sights on Congressional districts was unacceptably violent? Now, punching someone in the face is just fine.
When asked by a reporter about a claim by Michigan state Democrat that “there will be blood” should Republicans pass a union-choice law in Michigan, Carney professed ignorance and then downplayed the comment.
“I haven’t see those comments, and I’m not sure they mean what someone interprets them to mean,” he said.
Sure, “there will be blood” is really ambiguous. Wink, wink! It all depends on who is perpetrating the violence. History will not be kind to the Obama administration for many reasons, but I think its typically National Socialist attitude toward violence–tolerant, as long as it comes from the Left–will be one of them.
