GOP wants to know why there wasn't more security on Jan 6 despite warnings

Federal prosecutors have charged more than 725 people in connection with the events of Jan. 6 2021, when people stormed the US Capitol. On Matt Gaetz's "Firebrand" podcast, Gaetz claims that the events of Jan. 6 2021 "was not so much an insurrection as a fedsurrection."
Now, many Republicans want to know why the focus was on charging and prosecuting people after the fact, instead of preventative security measures, when they were well aware of potential threats on that day.
Gaetz spoke to Darren Beattie of Revolver News, who broke things down in a methodical manner.
Dr. Beattie mentioned the famous "Trump hippie van," which on Jan. 5 2020, was found to contain explosives and firearms. Despite this, authorities did nothing to ramp up security.
"Why is this thing buried in local media coverage?" asked Beattie, asking "if there was a threat of this magnitude right outside the Department of Justice, it makes it yet more difficult to account for the fact that, on Jan. 6, the Capitol building and the surrounding environment enjoyed uniquely poor security."
"It wasn't just that they didn't have enhanced security ... but that it didn't even enjoy normal security that day is something that's quite astonishing," he said.
The pair went on to talk about how the storming of the Capitol occurred before Trump was even done speaking, and also about "ski-mask man," of whom Beattie said "we know they know who he is, and they're not indicting." This person was seen egging people on to storm the Capitol, and removing protective fencing from a very early hour.
Beattie then mentioned the foiled plot to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI), which has been proven since to have been an FBI-hatched plot.
According to the Washington Post, "some 640 people were charged with entering a restricted federal building or its grounds. And another 75 were charged with entering a restricted area with a deadly weapon."
Also, "according to a May estimate by the Architect of the Capitol, the attack caused about $1.5 million worth of damage to the building."
As of the time of this writing, 165 people have pleaded guilty, and there have been 70 sentences meted out by federal judges, including 31 jail sentences, 18 people placed on house arrest, and 21 people placed on probation. No one was charged with the crime of insurrection stemming from activities on Jan. 6.
The events of Jan. 6 2021 in the end only led up to one fatality, that of Ashli Babbitt, who was shot by a Capitol Police officer as she tried to move through a pair of doors blocked by them.
