Black reporter harassed at impeach Trump protest: ‘Go back to Fox News to pick cotton’

T
wo anti-Trump demonstrators made racist comments to an African American Fox News contributor while he was covering an impeachment protest in New York.
The editor-in-chief of Campus Reform, 26-year-old Lawrence Jones, was interviewing people at an event promoting President Trump’s impeachment when two attendees began directing racist comments toward him.
One of the men reportedly told Jones that he should go back to Fox News “where there’s more cotton for you to pick.” When the man was asked to clarify what he just said, he reiterated the racist remark, according to the producer.

Although that interaction was not caught on film, cameras did pick up one of the men telling Jones, “He’ll tell you to go back to Kenya next.”
Jones described the confrontation on Fox News’ “Hannity.”
“I was just asking these people simple questions about if they felt like the president should be impeached or not. These guys come up to me and they say, go back to Fox News to pick cotton. They say, go back to Kenya,” Jones said. “This is who these people are, but I doubt many people in the media are going to condemn these people.”
“They know that with our reports and exposing the poverty and the failure of policies that all these Democrat cities have been doing to many people that look like me,” he added. “They believe that all black people need to think the same way.”
