Sen. Sherrod Brown Complains That Trump Rips Babies from Families on Same Day His Party Pushes for Infanticide

Presidential hopeful Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) complained to supporters on Wednesday that babies are being ripped from their families at the border — on the same day his party came under fire for taking up the mantle of infanticide.
Testing the waters for 2020, the tone-deaf incumbent senator, who has been in elected office since the 1970s, told a small crowd gathered for the launch of his "Dignity of Work" tour that, unlike Trump, he is a "real" populist.
Trump uses "phony populism," Brown said, insisting that real populism is not racist and anti-Semitic.
"Real populists don’t engage in hate speech and don’t rip babies from families at the border. And real populists, Mr. President, don’t insult people’s intelligence by lying," the senator said.
Well, I don't know who the real populist is between the two, but I do know that Brown is a member of a party that supports ripping babies from their mothers' wombs — literally limb from limb. And Sherrod Brown fully supports his party's extreme positions on baby killing. That is not to say that we shouldn't have compassion for children who, through no fault of their own, have been separated from their parents at the border, but Brown's complaints belie his radical pro-abortion views and voting history.
Last year, Brown, who had to spend $33 million to defend his seat against Congressman Jim Renacci, voted against the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act that would have outlawed painful late-term abortions after five months gestation. According to the Susan B. Anthony List, Brown:
  • Consistently votes for taxpayer funding of abortion giant Planned Parenthood.
  • Voted against banning barbaric partial-birth abortions
"We don’t appeal to some by pushing others down," Brown concluded near the end of his speech. "Unless they are helpless, fully-formed children," he might have added.

The Democratic Party, which used to demure that they want abortion to be "safe, legal, and rare," has abandoned that (comparatively) moderate position (which was a lie anyway) for what appears to be full-on infanticide.
Earlier today, Gov. Ralph Northam (D-Va.) appeared to endorse legalizing infanticide in cases of failed abortions, as PJM's Tyler O'Neil reported.
Asked about the REPEAL Act (H.B. 2491) which would legalize abortion even while the mother is in labor, Northam said, "When we talk about third-trimester abortions, these are done with the consent of — obviously — the mother, with the consent of the physicians — more than one physician, by the way. And it's done in cases where there may be severe deformities, there may be a fetus that's non-viable."
"If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered," Northam continued. "The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and mother."
Note his use of the word infant — not fetus, not clump of cells, not product of conception. Infant. A baby. A handicapped baby, the most vulnerable among us. If Northam and other Democrats have their way, full-term babies will be allowed to die on the delivery table with their mothers and doctors watching, refusing to intervene to give them the chance to live.
And Northam is not alone. Ramesh Ponnuru noted at National Review today:
In New York state, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a law that makes abortion legal, even after the unborn child is viable, so long as the abortionist makes a “reasonable and good-faith judgment” that abortion will protect the pregnant woman’s health. In Rhode Island, Governor Gina Raimondo has pledged to sign  legislation that also makes abortion legal after viability to “preserve . . . health.” In Virginia, state legislator Kathy Tran has introduced legislation that would, she has explained, make abortion legal even at term and in the middle of birth.
Erick Erickson made a good point today when he said Democrats need to stop worrying that Trump is the Nazi and instead take a good look in the mirror.
These people are monsters and the blood of millions of babies is on their hands. God help them.
