Glenn Beck: 'We begged the media' in 2014 to cover border kids and were ignored
Radio host: 'No one is willing to say the truth'

Radio host Glenn Beck told fans on Wednesday that he “begged” media outlets in 2014 to cover the conditions in which the children of illegal immigrants were detained but was roundly ignored.
The man behind The Blaze told colleagues this week that “intellectual integrity” no longer exists in the media after witnessing its about-face on the issue since former President Barack Obama left office.
Mr. Beck said he pitched countless news organizations about children in “cages” after hearing from Border Patrol agents, but was rebuffed.
“We begged the media,” the conservative said. “Did we not call every media source and say, ‘Look. Look. You don’t even have to credit us. You don’t have to say anything about us. This is what happening.’ Because we had the Department of Homeland Security and also border agents come to us and say, “Look, you guys don’t have any idea what’s happening. People are in cages. They’re in cages.’ At that time they were cages. OK. Remember?”
Mr. Beck said children have been separated by age, which means that siblings are also split up during their parents’ legal proceedings.
“You think it’s bad to take them away from their parents?” he asked. “How about a brother and sister, nine and six, come together on the ‘death train.’ They come across the border and then the border agent says, ‘You’re nine, you’re in that one. You’re six, you’re in that building.’ They’re alone completely. No one cared. And the intellectual integrity is nonexistent in this country. No one is willing to say the truth. We all check, ‘What’s the position? What do I need to say? I don’t want to hurt our side.’”
The host’s comments come in conjunction with President Trump’s decision to sign an executive order that keeps families together “while at the same time making sure that we have a very powerful, very strong border.”
“What we have done today is we are keeping families together. The borders are just as tough, just as strong,” Mr. Trump told reporters.
