Dems blame GOP, Ryan, 'aiding,
abetting terrorists' by rejecting gun
control
By PAUL BEDARD
Just hours after news broke of a mass shooting in San
Bernadino, Calif., Democratic and anti-gun groups moved
swiftly to blame Republicans.
Democracy for America Executive Director Charles
Chamberlain called the shooting of at least 28 in the city east
of Los Angeles terrorism and blamed easy gun accessibility. He
said that because Republicans, and specifically Speaker Paul
Ryan, "refuse to stand up to the NRA," then they are complicit
with the killers.
"When Paul Ryan and the entire Republican party refuse to
stand up to the NRA and the gun industry and pass common
sense gun reforms, they are aiding and abetting those
terrorists. Period," said Chamberlain.
"In the wake of yet another tragedy, Republicans need to
decide: Are you going to stand with the American people and
pass common sense gun reform? Or are you going to continue
to side with the terrorists who perpetrate these crimes and the
merchants of death in the gun industry who make it easier for
them to do it?"

Statements from groups backed by anti-gun advocate Michael
Bloomberg echoed that statement.
Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun
Sense in America, said, "thoughts and prayers – particularly
from our lawmakers – are simply not enough. To reduce the
gun violence that kills 88 Americans and injures hundreds
more each day, we must demand our lawmakers act and work
to keep guns out of dangerous hands. The phrase 'another
mass shooting' doesn't have to be a part of the American
vocabulary."
President Obama reiterated his call for new gun laws. During a
CBS interview, he said, "There are some steps we could take,
not to eliminate every one of these mass shootings, but to
improve the odds that they don't happen as frequently,
common sense gun safety laws, stronger background checks,"
he said.
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chair of the Democratic
National Committee, called on Republicans to join Democrats
to limit gun access:
"Our nation's leaders have a moral obligation to prevent the
murder of innocent people by enacting reforms to keep guns
out of the hands of criminals, the mentally ill, and those on
national security watch lists. It is long past time for
Republicans to join Democrats to get guns out of the hands of
people who should not have them."

D.C. area sheriff urges: 'Fight the
attacker to save your life'
By PAUL BEDARD (@SECRETSBEDARD) • 12/5/15 7:40 AM
A suburban Washington sheriff is urging county citizens --
many who work for the federal government -- to fight in a
terrorist attack.
"You need to be prepared to make quick decisions such as
fleeing the area, hiding or taking measures to fight the attacker
to save your life and the lives of others," Loudoun County
Sheriff Mike Chapman said in an email and text to his
Northern Virginia county residents Friday.
He distributed a video in which those facing the type of terror
attacks seen in San Bernadino, Calif. this week "run, hide, or
fight in active shooter incidents." In a fight, the video
recommends, "commit to taking the shooter down."
Chapman's urging echoes one made recently by District Police
Chief Cathy Lanier.
Loudoun is one of the wealthiest counties in the nation and is
home to Dulles International Airport.

LCSO: Be Prepared to Run, Hide, or Fight in Active Shooter
Incidents
Loudoun County, VA- In the wake of recent active shooter
incidents and acts of terrorism, the Loudoun County Sheriff's
Office is joining law enforcement agencies nationwide in
reminding residents how to best handle these situations in the
workplace or in public.
Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman is encouraging
residents to watch and share a video titled Run > Hide
> Fight. "The video demonstrates the actions you may need
to take to survive an active shooter incident," said Sheriff
Chapman. "You need to be prepared to make quick decisions
such as fleeing the area, hiding or taking measures to fight
the attacker to save your life and the lives of others," Sheriff
Chapman added.
The video can be viewed at

The video was produced by the City of Houston Mayor's Office
of Public Safety and Homeland Security (Ready Houston) as
part of a Department of Homeland Security Grand Funded
Project of the Regional Catastrophic Planning Initiative. The
video was developed to educate residents on how best to
respond during an active shooter incident.
