If you haven’t figured it out, the whole Rush thing is being conflated by the media in order to become a self-fulfilling prophecy. They also recently assaulted Andrew Breitbart in his death, and are now going after the Cato Institute for supposed transgressions by the Koch Brothers. It is a strategy developed to silence and discredit their opposition by any means necessary.
This is a massive assault on free speech the likes of which we have rarely seen. It is plastered all over the front pages, and even in mainstream outlets such as the Los Angeles Times, the vitriolic and disgusting response to Limbaugh’s choice of words far exceeds the shock value of those words.
Suddenly, the leftist media is holier than Mother Teresa as it wallows in the gutter. The dissonance is amazing.
Lost in the media distortions and lionization of Sandra Fluke are several key narratives. That she argues in the Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law that free gender reassignment surgery for all is a right and that it should be covered under all insurance policies has been lost in the conversation.
That she throws up an outrageous number for the cost of contraception is unquestioned. $3,000 for three years is completely out of touch when conventional birth control pills can be purchased at most pharmacies for under $10/month.
She stated that she did not see that the issue was in conflict with the Catholic Church despite the fact that the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has adamantly and specifically opposed the contraception mandate as an infringement of the First Amendment. That she goes to a Catholic university and was specifically chosen and prepped for her testimony is lost in the argument.
That she purposely enrolled in that university with the aim of challenging its faith-based policies is lost in the argument.
That she is a professional activist is lost in the argument.
That the hearing at which she spoke wasn’t really a hearing is lost in the argument.
That Nancy Pelosi, a nominal Catholic, scheduled the hearing explicitly to promote a false narrative and challenge the teachings of the same Church to which she tells us she is obedient is lost in the argument.
The same media that has done its best to smear any opposition to their agenda is now in overdrive to silence its opponents. This is an issue that goes to the heart of the First Amendment.
I may disagree with Mr. Limbaugh, but I will support his right to free speech.
The hypocrisy of the Left is unmatched. It is the exact same people condemning Limbaugh who said the most vile things about Breitbart upon his death and about Sarah Palin and anyone who has threatened their hegemony over the narrative. “Bitter clingers” and “right-wing religious zealots” are their stock in trade.Blacks who vote or campaign as Republicans are called the most vile names. God forbid one disagrees with the party line. They can’t shoot dissidents, but they can do their best to destroy them.
When the country has a majority who feel strongly about faith, their narrative distorts reality beyond recognition.
This cannot stand.
