This nearly breaks the record for dumb unintended consequences: 1) taxpayer money squandered for 2) paying people to do something they wouldn't do otherwise because 3) getting 5 or 10 more miles per gallon for a small segment of car owners will 4) supposedly make some undefined difference in emissions that 5) will have absolutely zero effect on non-existent global warming but will also 6) make poorer people's (who predominantly own the older cars) harder because 7) it will be harder to find parts from salvage yards to keep their cars repaired, and there's also 8) no guarantee the vouchers people get for their clunkers won't be somehow used to finance their poor lifestyle choices. And did I mention you get to pay for this idiocy?
