Dear GOP — Let President Trump Lead the Way to Midterms Victory

Dear GOP — Let President Trump Lead the Way to Midterms Victory

Top O' the Briefing

Happy Thursday, dear Kruiser Morning Briefing friends. Godlebrunz will be serving suspect crumb cake to semi-employed performance artists in the meditation tent.

This is something I've written about a few times and will continue to write about until the midterms are over. I don't have a crystal ball that lets me see how things are going to go in November. Conventional wisdom and election history tell us that it shouldn't be good for the Republicans. Conventional wisdom hasn't been around much for recent elections, however. Even though the Republicans were supposed to win the House back in 2022, the margin of victory was, as we are painfully aware, much lower than expected.

In other words, almost anything goes now.

Republicans have plenty of time to make a good run at midterms success. In my latest column, I explore the profoundly disturbing state of mental unwellness in the Democratic Party. They're still clinging to hating President Trump as a political strategy. Opportunities abound for the GOP.

Almost every day brings another story about an illegal alien who could have been deported multiple times, committing a violent crime. The Trump 47 administration has been brilliant at closing the border and deporting a lot of the worst of the illegals, but soft-on-crime judges and prosecutors are still slowing down the process.

I've been a big advocate for Republican candidates having a relentless focus on law and order as their primary issue this year. The differences between the GOP and the Democrats on the issue are numerous and easy to point out, which is something that President Donald Trump does very well.

This is from Catherine:

President Donald Trump is sick and tired of waiting for Senate Republicans to grow spines and for Democrats to quit denying Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employees checks in order to demand protections for illegal aliens. So Trump and congressional Republicans are working on an alternate method of funding DHS.

In his usual grandiloquent style, Trump declared, "Republicans fully support our Great Men and Women of Law Enforcement, maybe the word should be, LOVE! America thanks each and every one of our wonderful Police, Border Patrol, ICE, and others, for their work to protect our Cities, Towns, Streets and, indeed, our Country itself." In contrast, the president went on, "Democrats want to DEFUND the Police, Border Patrol, and all Immigration Enforcement. They want to allow Criminals, the Mentally Insane, and Lunatics from all over the World to come into our Country, totally unvetted and unchecked, putting Americans in serious danger."

As Catherine goes on to note later in the post, immigration enforcement was a huge and winning issue for President Trump in 2024. It's actually been a winning issue for him since he first announced he was running for president in 2015.

Everybody wants to feel safe. Pro-criminal prosecutors were run out of office in San Francisco and Los Angeles. They may not be voting Republican in either place yet, but if they're feeling it, you know swing voters are too.

President Trump has spent a decade trying to teach Republicans not only how to win, but how to want to win. That last part is important. Before Trump entered politics for the 2016 presidential race, I frequently told people that I was tired of wanting the Republicans to win more than the Republicans wanted to win.

Trump's had a lot of success changing the GOP mindset, but there's still some work to do. The good news is that his endorsement and campaign help will be coveted by candidates this year. He'll have plenty of opportunities to rub off on them.

More importantly, Trump has been showing them how to win. It's a simple story they can tell on the campaign trail: Democrats want to keep murderers and rapists on the streets to imperil your families, and Republicans want to remove the threat. If the threat is in the country illegally, we want to send them home.

Lather, rinse, repeat, win an election or two.

Just follow the example of the man who has been bucking electoral trends for a decade.

A Perfect Example of How Lefties Think

A Perfect Example of How Lefties Think

Bari Weiss

I spent a decent amount of time in academia. About a quarter of my adult life, in fact. My parents were academics, but since they were in the sciences and the worst excesses of academic groupthink had yet to rear their ugly head, I saw less sheer idiocy then than before I went to graduate school and began teaching at a small liberal arts college.

Things were pretty bad by the 1990s, but postmodernism was still new and exciting to liberal academics. Since then, DEI and Critical Theory have become the standard in the Humanities, and dominate even the sciences, where "diversity statements" are required to get hired as Physicists and biologists, and "indigenous knowledge" has risen to equal or even higher status than the scientific method.

Universities have become indoctrination factories, not just because they lean left, but because the very foundation of their epistemology is based on the principle that there is no "real world," and all communication is power. The search for truth is a colonialist construction based on a desire to impose one's will, and that's it, and the will that must be imposed is that the West must be destroyed.

That's why censorship is a key part of the university experience. Only certain things may be said because even the saying of ideas creates an evil reality that must be destroyed.

Academics have killed freedom of thought, but as David Burge points out, liberals wear the concepts behind respected institutions as skinsuits to reap the hard-won benefits that accrued to the institutions they have killed.

A perfect example is this: the Chair of a Political Science department at UCLA pushing to cancel Bari Weiss from speaking because she questions whether academic freedom at universities exists anymore.

Huh? Think about it. Let the concept sink in. Roll it around. Bask in the contradiction.

How dare you question whether we allow debate and contrasting views? The assertion is so ludicrous and harmful to our reputation that we must silence you!

Freedom is slavery. Debate is oppression.

Of course, by the lights of Critical Theory, words only mean what one says they mean, so my freedom to define the world is constrained by your disagreement, so of course you must be silenced.

This reminds me of San Francisco State's response to students driving Riley Gaines into a locked classroom with police protection, and the response of the institution to this hostage taking was...to praise the students who assaulted her. They were exercising free speech by attacking her, kidnapping her, and requiring police to rescue her from a mob.

Dear SF State community,

Today, San Francisco State finds itself again at the center of a national discussion regarding freedom of speech and expression. Let me begin by saying clearly: the trans community is welcome and belongs at San Francisco State University. Further, our community fiercely believes in unity, connection, care and compassion, and we value different ideas, even when they are not our own. SF State is regularly noted as one of the most diverse campuses in the United States—this is what makes us Gators, and this is what makes us great. Diversity promotes critical discussions, new understandings and enriches the academic experience. But we may also find ourselves exposed to divergent views and even views we find personally abhorrent. These encounters have sometimes led to discord, anger, confrontation and fear. We must meet this moment and unite with a shared value of learning.

Thank you to our students who participated peacefully in Thursday evening’s event. It took tremendous bravery to stand in a challenging space. I am proud of the moments where we listened and asked insightful questions. I am also proud of the moments when our students demonstrated the value of free speech and the right to protest peacefully. These issues do not go away, and these values are very much at our core.

This feels difficult because it is difficult. As you reflect, process, and begin to heal, please remember that there are people, resources and services available and ready to receive our Gator community, including faculty, staff members, coaches and mentors who are here to support you.

Campus resources are also available:

1Equity and Community Inclusion

1Counseling and Psychological Services

1Dean of Students Office

The well-being of the SF State campus community remains our priority.

Sincerely,

Jamillah Moore, Ed.D.

Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management”

This is what she was praising as "free speech" and "peaceful protest:"

You could do worse than to assume that anything an academic says should be taken to mean the reverse. Freedom is slavery. Free speech is censorship. Peaceful is violent. Men can be women.

That's the essence of postmodernism and Critical Theory: use words to recreate reality as you like it. Reality is a mere construction of the mind, and everything is a battle for power. There is no actual truth or justice. Just the war of us against you.

We are in the midst of an American Cultural Revolution. And while we are fighting back now, we still aren't winning.

This Georgetown Professor Has a Nasty Message for Those Concerned With Islamic Rape Gangs

I'm old enough to remember the Me Too movement — that sweeping, irrational, and hypocritical fad that once enamored the Left right up until it was no longer politically advantageous for them. In the decade since the height of that movement, the Left has shifted away from Me Too and the concept of enthusiastic consent and into a more totalitarian approach on issues.

We see this explicitly in the Left's embrace of trans activism and its systematic erasure of women's sports, safe spaces, and gendered language, as well as their demand that women be forced to accept mentally ill men into their locker rooms, lactation groups, and even their rape-crisis centers and hospital wards. While they violate our right to privacy, those men threaten us with job losses, violence, and even death.

But it's also rearing its ugly head in the Left's continued embrace of Islam. Under Islam, women have no basic rights. Young girls are subject to genital mutilation and marriage to much older men while they are still prepubescent. In Europe, Islamist migrants who are caught raping women tell the courts they did so because they come from countries where women are seen as slaves, both sexual and otherwise, who don't have equal rights with men. In Spain, the government imported the Islamists who raped Noelia Castillo Ramos in a state-run group home, and then they refused to punish them. Traumatized, Noelia tried to end her life and wound up paralyzed. Spain killed her last month, calling her murder "death with dignity." In Germany, a 16-year-old girl's rape was not reported to authorities because it would harm the Muslim boys who raped her.

And in the U.K., the nation has been in the midst of a years-long grooming gang scandal that saw countless British girls raped, assaulted, abused, and harassed by Islamist men. The government believes that the real crime here is not the sexual abuse of vast swaths of British women and girls, but the "racism" and "Islamophobia" of the people who rightly point out that Islam is incompatible with the West.

But that mentality is not isolated to the U.K., sadly. Here in the U.S. one Georgetown professor , Jonathan Brown, has a very blunt message for anyone who dares criticize the Islamic sexual assaults of women: "Get over it."

This in and of itself is breathtaking in its callousness, but it apparently isn't new for Brown. In 2017, Brown came under fire for his assertion that it's not "morally evil to own somebody."

"I don't think you can talk about slavery in Islam until you realize that there is no such thing as slavery," Brown said. "As a category, as a conceptual category that exists throughout state and time trans-historically, there's no such thing as slavery."

"But it's not possible to say that slavery is inherently, absolutely, categorically immoral in all times and places, since it was allowed by the Quran and the Prophet," Brown reportedly wrote.

When it comes to the concept of sexual consent, Brown said, "And it's the consent of that autonomous agent that makes a sexual action acceptable ... If you take away the consent element, then everyone starts flipping out. At that point, then you get rape, you get sexual acts done by people that are too young – we perceive as too young to consent. And these are sort of the great moral wrongs of our society ... For most of human history, human beings have not thought of consent as the essential feature of morally correct sexual activity. And second, we fetishize the idea of autonomy to the extent that we forget – again, who's really free? Are we really autonomous people?"

Brown then connects those dots, saying that if women are slaves, "their owner can have sex with them."

I am appalled, but I am not surprised. Like all good Leftists, Brown believes that anything that isn't White, Western, or Christian is inherently good and must be embraced, while all those aformentioned things are inherently evil and worth being destroyed.

"They were the wrong race of girls rаpеd by the "right" race and religion of immigrant men ... so these people don't see it as bad, no more that the Muslim rаpе gangs did. Both groups think, in their heart of hearts, that those girls deserved it. They were White, they were oppressors. So that's what they get. This man reaches the same conclusions as Muslims," Keneinan wrote.

He's also reportedly funded by the Saudis.

And his father-in-law is a convicted terrorist.

Yes. His father-in-law is Sami Al-Arian, who was deported to Turkey in 2015 after being accused of providing material support to the US-designated and Iran-backed terrorist organization Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Brown's wife, Laila Al-Arian, is a journalist for the Muslim Brotherhood propaganda outlet Al Jazeera.

From Europe to the United States, the pattern is the same: Islamic crimes minimized, victims ignored, and anyone who speaks up told to stay quiet, "get over it," or accused of being a racist Islamophobe. We cannot, should not, tolerate this capitulation to Islam, neither from the Islamists themselves or the Leftists who enable, champion, and encourage them.

Shutdown Showdown: GOP Plans Big New Beautiful Bill

Shutdown Showdown: GOP Plans Big New Beautiful Bill

AP Photo/Mariam Zuhaib

With another Schumer Shutdown causing headaches across the fruited plain, a midterm election fast approaching, and hyper-partisan Democrats seemingly determined to block any Republican effort at any cost, the Republican members of the House of Representatives and the Senate are now planning "One Big Beautiful Bill 2 - This Time, it's Personal."

In a hyper-partisan Congress that’s facing midterm elections, Republicans in both chambers have united on a plan to pass a second budget reconciliation bill before the balance of power potentially changes.

Their previous reconciliation bill, the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” focused primarily on President Donald Trump’s tax policies, including permanently extending the increased standard deductions from 2017. It also restrained the growth of Medicaid spending over the next ten years and tightened work requirements for both Medicaid and SNAP.

Now, after two Democrat-instigated government shutdowns – the second of which is ongoing – Republicans are considering including a massive funding boost to immigration enforcement agencies, money for the U.S.-Israeli conflict against Iran and possibly some election changes.

Republicans will likely have to at least partially offset any new spending, however, to appease fiscal hawks, many of whom are still bitter over the $3.3 trillion price tag of the OBBB.

Cutting spending is always good, and to the GOP in Washington, I would only say this: This time, use a chainsaw or an axe, not a scalpel.

There's a catch (there's always a catch): This won't heave the SAVE America Act or its provisions across the finish line.

Additionally, incorporating policies from the SAVE America Act – a voter-ID bill stuck in the Senate – into a reconciliation bill would be difficult, if not impossible.

The Senate’s Byrd Rule prohibits reconciliation bills from including non-budgetary matters, or “extraneous” policies that would not meaningfully add to or reduce the deficit. Otherwise, the privilege of passing the bill in the Senate with only a majority vote would no longer apply.

Pushing the funding issues out of the way may serve to clear the decks, as it were, to allow the House and Senate to work on the SAVE America Act.

Dems Outfoxed Again: Airports Returning to Normal As Trump Finds Way to Pay TSA Agents

There's some serious strategery, as it were, to be considered here. The Democrats aren't going to agree to anything. If we've learned nothing from two record-setting shutdowns, it's that. So, fine; play their game. Ram the spending bills down their throats - metaphorically speaking, of course - with another One Big Beautiful Bill, passed through the reconciliation process. Then put the SAVE America Act, front and center, focus on that, and that alone, until it passes, by hook or by crook. Use a talking filibuster, or get rid of the filibuster altogether; the Democrats are sure to do so the moment they have a Senate majority. They have said as much, and we should believe them.

It's time to start playing hardball. The Democrats already are. The midterms are fast approaching, and we need the SAVE America Act in place to make sure the elections are honest.

And no breaks or recesses until it's all done. Do your jobs, Congress. Otherwise, it's just another case of "Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose."

The Victory Option

The Victory Option

The Victory Option
AP Photo/Julia Demaree Nikhinson

There are two kinds of people: the kind of people who want to end the Iran War and people who want to win the Iran War. The Victory Option encompasses the goal of the first kind of people because it ends the war, but ending the war is not the proper objective. The proper objective in any war is to win it. Anyone glancing at social media sees people with an absolute commitment to America’s defeat. And defeat comes about only if Donald Trump chooses to quit the war – because the Iranians can’t make us do anything since they don’t have a nuclear bomb, thanks to Donald Trump – in a way that doesn’t achieve victory. Victory means regime change. Once again, remember your Clausewitz – war is simply politics with other means. This is a political struggle. The military aspect is just how it’s being done, not what’s being done.

A victory end-state is one in which Iran is no longer a destabilizing force in the world – note that I said “world,” not just the Middle East. By destabilizing force, I mean the funder of radically jihadi savages all over the world – for example, they blew up a Jewish center in Argentina – as well as enablers of Chi Com mischief by selling Xi oil. They are also a destabilizing force because they seek to be the owners of sufficient numbers of drones and missiles that they can inflict unacceptable punishment on their neighbors. Oh, and there’s the whole nuclear thing. Just imagine Iran with nuclear weapons on top of ballistic missiles. You know, the ballistic missiles they promised they didn’t have, but actually had, since they shot a couple at Diego Garcia? Putting aside all the fatwas the fatheads cite claiming that the ayatollahs had forbidden nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles, think about them having Paris and London in hot rock range, with the United States coming soon into the crosshairs as Iran reaches intercontinental capability. That’s when they start dictating to us. Call me crazy, but I prefer we dictate to our enemies instead of vice versa.

So, what we’re fighting for is a neutered Iran, or rather a neutralized Iran, where it stops being an active enemy. It doesn’t have to be a friend. It just has to not be a threat, because they are right now. And that’s one of the things a lot of people on the Democrat side and some of our podcast bros and libertarians misunderstand. Well, they misunderstand a lot of things, but this one’s particularly important. The mullahs hate us and want us dead for reasons that we can’t necessarily comprehend. But the fact that we can’t comprehend why they believe that some missing mahdi requires them to kill us doesn’t mean that they don’t believe that some missing mahdi requires them to kill us. They do. They’ve told us so for 47 years. They’re not out there chanting “Death to America” figuratively. We have real enemies.

And as American First conservatives, we don’t believe in wishing away enmity because dealing with that reality is inconvenient and clashes with things we’d rather do. There are a lot of things we would rather be doing right now than cleaning out the Iran abscess. We’ve got budgets to cut, frauds to expose, DEI to purge, and illegal aliens – so many illegal aliens – to deport. It would be great to have those things as our sole focus. But, being adults and fans of the first wave Rolling Stones, we understand that you can’t always get what you want.

This was the time to strike Iran. This was the time to win once and for all, to end this forever war by victory. Some people who don’t want victory are mad because they alleged there was no imminent threat. That might be true, in the sense that they hadn’t yet completed building up their arsenal of rockets, missiles, and drones, and they hadn’t finalized their nuclear weapons program. Then the threat would be very imminent, and therefore not subject to the airborne remedy we’ve been applying for the last four weeks. Hit them when they’re weak? When the hell else should we hit them? Is there some sort of Marquess of Queensberry rules we should be applying? When you have a psychotic enemy who wants to murder you because of their false religious dogma, you don’t wait until they have a fair and fighting chance. Kicking them when they’re down is the best time to kick them. And to keep kicking them until they beg to surrender.

Fortunately, Donald Trump understands that. He rejects the idea of half-measures. Can you imagine the pressure that he’s under right now from many within his own coalition to slow down or stop this campaign? But he’s not going to. He won’t give in. He’s putting his agenda at risk, and it is a risk because of the weak-hearted, in order to make America safe again. Oh, and our allies, too. I mean both the useful ones, like the Israelis have proven to be, and the useless ones, like our NATO allies, have proven to be. If you don’t think their leaders in NATO, who are crying because Donald Trump is having an illegal war, which is against international law, to the extent there is such a thing as international law, are not thrilled with the idea of this threat being neutered without them having to offend and aroused their imported third-world, barbarian contingent, you’re not paying attention. But that doesn’t change the level of abuse and harassment from them that Trump is suffering because of this. The Democrats are screaming at him. Some of his coalition members are screaming at him. Foreigners are screaming at him. Everyone’s screaming at him, and he doesn’t care. He doesn’t care because he’s doing the right thing. And he’s strong enough to do it. He’s channeling Winston Churchill, who famously said:

“Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”

And Donald Trump will never quit, not till he gets what he wants. And what he wants is victory.

But that’s not what his opponents want. Oh, some opponents will be perfectly happy to have Iran ruined, including the aforementioned NATO allies and many Democrats who understand what a threat these barbarians are. But they don’t want Trump to get the credit. They don’t want Trump to get the glory. Some of them would accept an Iran unbound in order to deprive Donald Trump of the recognition he will earn for his steadfast commitment to ridding the planet of this strategic threat.

The libertarians are just unserious idiots, so I’m not even bothering with them. But there is a contingent of Democrats who are not only upset about Donald Trump potentially getting credit but about America potentially winning. They hate America. They think we’re the problem. They’ll run their mouths about a 1953 coup in Iran as if that somehow gives these turbaned jerks a free pass to butcher our people in perpetuity. These Democrats despise America. They want America to lose. AOC’s preferred end-state is this country’s humiliation and defeat. Ilhan Omar would celebrate America’s loss like she would celebrate her wedding anniversary with her brother. And the only thing that could please Rashida Tlaib more than an American being killed by these Islamic scumbags is if that American was also Jewish.

So, what’s the answer for Donald Trump? It’s easy. It’s the same answer it always is, the same as it has always been through history when fighting a war. It’s to win the war. Victory is the answer. Not ending the war. Ending the enemy. There is no substitute for victory. We didn’t fight to victory in Korea, Vietnam, or even Iraq or Afghanistan. And you know what? That was the problem. You’ve got to win. Fortunately, our president is Donald Trump, and he just doesn’t know how to lose.
