Why The Freakout Over Georgia Voting Bill Is Telling

Why The Freakout Over Georgia Voting Bill Is Telling

Here in Georgia, a historic bill just passed the House here. HB531 introduces a number of new measures that are designed to minimize voter fraud.

To be fair, fraud has been an issue here in Georgia for quite some time. Six years ago, wrote this at my friend Sarah Hoyt’s site. As you can see, much of what I reported there was similar to what we saw in 2020. Sure, the use of nursing home patients was new, but using absentee voter ballots for fraud sure as hell wasn’t.

Georgia’s HB531 seeks to address that by, among other things, requiring IDs for absentee ballots.

People are freaking the hell out:

Berman is a writer at Mother Jones, so it’s safe to say he’s not a conservative.

HE’s not alone, either. The hashtag was trending on Twitter yesterday afternoon as the left completely melted down.

And it’s telling.

See, while they argue that voter fraud had no meaningful impact in the 2020 election, they can’t say there was no fraud at all. We’ve seen a number of incidents that raised red flags for a lot of people. Especially here in Georgia.

Yes, Democrats won here, but they did it in a way that cast a pronounced shadow on the election overall.

If Democrats believe they won fair and square, absolutely nothing in the Georgia bill will really stop eligible voters from being able to cast their ballots. What it will do, though, is make things more difficult for fraudsters.

The fact that the left is losing it over this tells us that they don’t actually want secure elections. They want the rules so loose they might as well not exist.

In other words, many of them suspect they only won in Georgia due to voter fraud and they don’t want anything to get in their way if they have to do it again.

See, if eligible voters have smaller windows to get their absentee ballots back in, they’ll just have to make adjustments to meet the new window. What it won’t do, though, is give fraudsters ample time to manufacture fake ballots.

Requiring ID in order to vote, even by absentee ballot, simply ensures that the people filling out the ballots are eligible to vote. Georgia will provide free ID cards to any citizen who needs one so they can provide it when they vote.

Plus, the claim we’re probably going to hear all over again about how ID requirements negatively impact black voters is beyond stupid. It’s a racist claim that somehow black Americans are somehow too stupid to get a free ID from the state.

Honestly, liberals don’t give the African-American community any credit, do they?

The truth is that an ID requirement means it’ll be more difficult for someone to vote fraudulently. That’s where the problem actually lies. Again, because they seemingly know that they won by fraud and are afraid to upset the apple cart.

Sure enough, 2022 will likely shape up very differently and these special snowflakes will decry the results by claiming voter suppression—which is hardly new for them. They’ve been screaming that since 2018 when then-Secretary of State performed a mandated purge of the voter rolls for those who haven’t voted even though no voters were turned away apparently—but it won’t really matter all that much. Not in the end.

But it will be imperative to make it a point to vote against any Democrat on the ticket, even if their only opposition is COVID-19.

That’s because what we’ve seen from this crowd is a lot of hysterics that don’t reflect anything approaching reality.

Then again, that’s because they have a version of “reality” they apparently like to pretend is real and that’s the one they just run with. Unfortunately, the media won’t call them on it.

What that means is that we need to call them on their hysterics.

There’s nothing in this bill that would keep law-abiding, eligible citizens from voting here in Georgia. But you won’t know that if you listen to the dipsticks screaming the loudest.
