Could Iran's shoot-down of a Ukrainian airliner on Wednesday ignite another Iranian revolution, one which might bring down the Islamic Republic established following the revolution of 1979?
It is looking possible, as protests apparently spiral out of control in Teheran.
Looked at in the context of ongoing mobilization, the assassination of Qasem Soleimani may have been the spark which finally undoes the reign of terror Islamic Fundamentalism has inflicted upon the world since President Jimmy Carter told the Shah to step down.
One doesn't want to get overly optimistic since the Mullahs have successfully cracked down before. But the September 2019 attack on Saudi oil refineries may have been a miscalculation by the Iranian leadership, who possibly thought impeachment would paralyze President Trump--instead of apparently liberating him to fulfill his Inaugural promise to "..unite the civilized world against Radical Islamic Terrorism, which we will eradicate completely from the face of the Earth."
For no country symbolizes Radical Islamic Terrorism better than Iran, which has sponsored terrorist attacks around the world in Albania, Argentina, Bahrain, Denmark, France, India, Iraq, Israel, Kenya, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand, as well as against the United States.
The NY Times reported Iranian support to 9/11 plotters in 2011, charges repeated by Vice-President Mike Pence last week.
The Bush administration failed to overthrow the Iranian regime due to either bad timing, poor preparation, or miscalculation. The Obama administration chose engagement rather than confrontation, signing a controversial nuclear deal to release Iranian billions.
Obviously, the Trump administration has a different approach.
If it works, no one would dare criticize such bold moves on the eve of Iran's activation of atomic weaponry. It would mean true "denuclearization" of a major threat.
If it doesn't work, few would fault an American President for trying to eliminate a major threat--one which has been undermining world order since 1979.
Add to the decision matrix the House vote to impeach the President, and dramatic action becomes imperative in order to demonstrate to the world that the United States has not become paralyzed as a result of petty political squabbles.
So, in my opinion, President Trump's Iran policy is already a success, no matter what happens next.
It has the added benefit of putting the leadership of the Democratic party as well as so-called "Human Rights advocates" on the side of the most repressive, backwards, and medieval regime on the planet.
President Trump sided with the Iranian people in his January 11th tweet: "To the brave, long-suffering people of Iran: I’ve stood with you since the beginning of my Presidency, and my Administration will continue to stand with you. We are following your protests closely, and are inspired by your courage."
Tweets like this make the current Iranian crisis look like a win-win situation for President Trump, and the Free World, thanks to the brave Iranian people.
